so where we are to dday is best encapsulated by the story of the woman we will call alejandra who came to the u.s. and crossed the border a month and half ago with her 6-year-old daughter and fleeing gang violence in honduras. they were detained, separated. ten days ago, alejandra was told that she would be reunited with her daughter that day and given the paperwork for her release, but it did not happen. she is still in the detention facility here in texas, and her daughter is in a facility in new york. when she is going to look for answers, this is what she is told. >> translator: the first thing they ask is always, do you know when it will be? when my girl will be brought here to be unified with me, and they tell me, no, i don't know anything. they say to me. >> reporter: through this 10-day period of olimbo that alejandra has been in, she has been told by her daughter's attorney that
