>> still, 300 americans are dying every day and some groups remain at risk more than others. cnn medical correspondent elizabeth cohen has been following it. elizabeth, tell us what the latest data shows. >> reporter: so, cnn has done an analysis of cdc data, jim. unfortunately what we are seeing is a continuation of what's been going on since the beginning of the pandemic, which is that people of color are disproportionately affected, in fact, more so now than ever. so relet's take a look at what r analysis found. black people in the united states are 25% of the population. you would expect they would also be around 12.5% of deaths. but throughout the pandemic they have accounted for more than 15% of deaths. and if you look starting in may, black people accounted for 19% of deaths, even though there are they're 12% of the population. now let's take a look at an age trend that's going on. throughout the pandemic the majority of deaths have been people over age 75.
