we're learning one of the nation's top universities is now looking at possibly bringing back the reserve officers' training core. stanford university in california phased out the rotc programs back in the 1970s amid growing demonstrations against the vietnam war. in 196, arsonists had set fire to the navy's rotc building on campus destroying it. today, just a handful of stanford students are in the program. they travel to other nearby colleges for rotc classes. but now some supporters are saying it's time to change that. our claudia cowan is live on campus at stanford right now. hey, claudia. >> hey, shepard. well, this whole idea is still in the early stages of discussion. but supporters say offering rotc here at stanford once again will help preserve the age-old tradition of the citizen soldier and help keep the university consistent with its mission statement, which is to expose students to all reasonable options for their future. history professor david kennedy says that must include careers
