there is no war on terror. this is a criminal matter. the attorney general should be prosecuting crime. he shouldn't be involved in prosecuting a war on terror. and i think for some republicans who thought president obama campaigned. he was in the senate briefly. he campaigned as somebody who wanted to fight basically the war on terror as a criminal matter, there was some hope i think that with two years in office, having seen attempted attacks on the u.s. homeland, having been involved in the predator drone strikes in pakistan. having had to really fight the war, that president obama might have understood better that this is in fact a war. that it is not merely a criminal matter. i think what the nomination of or the recess appointment of james cole suggests that president obama does not understand that and all of the things that republicans have said about him wanting to ice this as a law enforcement matter are correct. rick: i wonder how much politics comes into play here? it certainly does with most things that come out of washington but this is a man, james cole, who spent a lot
