can keep austin in their prayers and the entire hatch family and kim's family and steve's family. this is a travesty you would never ever expect. steve was a great man, incredible fairlt and the same with kim. a great mom. and it's a huge loss for the community. >> reporter: after the 2003 crash the ntsb found the plane didn't have enough fuel and the utility pole it hit during its forced landing contributed to the crash. a family friend disputes the report and believes equipment failure is to blame. austin who is a junior in high school and his father shared one of the most special days of their lives when the 6'6" forward received a basketball scholarship from the university of michigan, the alma matre of his parents. friend say it's austin's dream to play there.
