burn mark on his chest. fires of a different kind were burning through the upper midwest as farmers fought off a crop-killing frost. >> low-lying areas down here, were lighting fires. in the coldest parts of the night to keep the low lying areas warmer. >> reporter: from michigan to massachusetts temperatures reached into the 20s. for northern farmers, the last freeze of the season doesn't usually come until early may, but record heat in march confused crops causing some to develop early. now those tender buds are threatened by frost. and for some, like orchard owner, carol murphy in western new york, it's already too late. >> if i can stay in business this year it will be surprising. it's just devastating. >> people love the mild winter, oh it's warm in march, february. >> a cost to it. >> a cost. we pay a price. >> a downside to everything unfortunately. good luck to all the farmers. let's take a look at your monday forecast, everybody.
