some questions that had come up. and let's be clear about this. some of these questions could have been new to the white house but not new to the cia. but these questions were ones that she was being asked to give some full-throated answers to that had to do with her role in support of the cia's very controversial torture program after 9/11. and the result of that question and answer session at the white house was that she suggested that she withdraw her nomination. i also want to emphasize something, please, if i can, which is, she wasn't withdrawing because she was worried that there was some new horrible skeleton in her closet. she was worried that she was going to be somehow bruised in this nomination process. she didn't want that. and she expressed to the white house aides that she was not interested in hurting the agency that she had served for the last 33 years.
