surprise tariff tweet. joining me to discuss former assistant to president obama, chris lou, and former senior adviser to jeb bush, michael steele and white house correspondent for "the hill," jordan fabian. welcome. chris, i want to start with you. we laid out the timeline there. did one have to do with the other? what do you think was behind the whole threat from tariffs by the president? >> well, i'm not going to speculate what was behind the threats. what's clear here is that this is the product of, frankly, the president's rhetoric and negotiating style. when you say every deal you cut is the gusty, people are going to rightly question what's in it. when you threaten a tariff and trade wars, people are going to expect big results. the truth about all this is that immigration is really hard. and it can't be solved with tariff threats. it ultimately needs to be not just border security it needs to be the fundamental reasons why migrants are coming from central america. and so this constant push and pull, and we're going to be back
