critical race theory, the true history of slavery, et cetera, et cetera, to have this holiday kind of puts them on the spot in the sense of, well, you have to say it now, don't you. you have to admit it happened, don't you? because there's a holiday based on it. now, this obviously isn't the solution to all the problems of black people and race and society, but it is a step. it is a step in the right direction and it is a step toward awareness. i think awareness is great. you know, we have things like the tulsa massacre. i was just talking with a friend about that. we didn't learn anything about that in school. i mean a lot of this isn't taught in ordinary school curriculum. so if we're raising the awareness, i think that's fantastic. >> i'm glad you brought up critical race theory because, philip bump, that's what you were writing about in "the washington post" this week, about some of the incongruity in terms of opposition to critical race theory, this idea that racism is systemic in america and that we have to understand what's happening today in light of what's happened in the past.
