Dodd again to head Governmental Organization committee Sen. Bill Dodd FAIRFIELD — Sen. Bill Dodd has been reappointed as chairman of the committee that oversees matters of public safety emergencies and disaster response. The Senate Committee on Governmental Organization also handles such issues as horseracing, public gaming, tribal gaming contracts, the lottery, the National Guard, alcoholic beverages, and legislation permitting the use of state-controlled lands. “It’s a great privilege to continue my leadership role on a committee that is charged with shaping policy in so many vital areas,” Dodd, D-Napa, said in a statement released by his office. “Recent wildfires across the state make oversight of disaster services policy absolutely critical. And of course, California’s dominance in the wine and craft beer industries makes legislation in those areas highly relevant.”
