1/19/2021 2:56:15 PM Dolores Cuddy Folkerts, 94, matriarch and our erudite teacher has been chosen by God this day January 18, 2021, to be our family’s guiding angel. She was born on December 18, 1926, in Alton, the daughter of the late James Garth and Verna (Roberts) Cuddy. Survivors include a daughter: Patricia C. Paustian of Roxana, a son: John G. Folkerts of Roxana, three grandchildren: Abigail A. Paustian, Amanda K. Paustian (Brian Sellers), Melissa E. Paustian, two great grandchildren: Daniel R. Welborn, Kaitlin A. Welborn, a brother: Jerry Ivan Cuddy (Teresa Cuddy) She acquired a number of diplomas from Blackburn College, Shurtleff College, and SIUE. As a teacher she taught with love and humor. For those fortunate enough to partake in one of her classes, be it anywhere from kindergarten to Senior in High School, they had fun learning. As a guidance counselor she helped many find their niche and pointed them in the right direction. She retired as Madison School District Assistant Superintendent. The First United Methodist Church of East Alton was her church for many years. Music was always a joy for her. Beside singing, she played accordion and piano, and directed many vocal choirs and handbell choirs. Adept at anything she put her mind to, quite often she would take it to the next level. We will miss this great communicator and joyous light.
