Harnsberger, Benjamin Daniel Monday, December 28, 2020 Dr. Benjamin Daniel Harnsberger Dr. Benjamin Daniel Harnsberger, 77, of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee, was received by his Lord and Savior on Christmas Day, December 25, 2020, surrounded by his wife and children. Born in Macon, Georgia, he was the son of the late C. Benjamin Harnsberger and Jeannette Wagnon Harnsberger. Dr. Harnsberger graduated from Emory University in 1964 and then completed medical school at Emory University College of Medicine in 1968. He concluded his medical internship at Emory University, followed by service in the Medical Corps with the United States Navy in Norfolk, Virginia. Following his Pulmonary fellowship at Emory University, he and his family moved to Chattanooga in 1974. He began his medical practice in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care with Parkridge Medical Group - Diagnostic Center, where he found it to be his highest honor and privilege to serve and care for his patients. Passionate about his patients and providing the upmost care, he established deep friendships with both patients, staff, and colleagues. He was highly respected and revered, and he stood for the highest ethical standards in medical care. He was a pioneer in the frontline of medical technology; he was one of the first involved in study of the Yag laser for endobronchial ablation, and he was the first physician in the region to utilize intrabronchial brachytherapy. He was a leader in his field, serving on the Board of Directors at Parkridge Hospital, acting as the Pulmonary Medicine director at Memorial Hospital for 30 years, and directing intensive care units throughout Chattanooga. He served the medical community for 43 years, retiring in 2017.
