today marks one year since 10 year old brie Asia Toral was reported missing. A statewide amber alert followed for months for the Davenport girl in March, fishermen found her body in a pond in Dewitt, about 20 miles north of Davenport. Five weeks later, Henry Dinkins was charged with her murder. He is her half brothers father and also a registered sex offender. New court documents unsealed. Just last week's show, authorities found an axe and cleaning supplies in dinkins trunk after Toral went missing. He is set to stand trial on February 14 over 100 miles away here in des Moines. Members of the community have done their very best to honor brie Asia Tarell over the last year and as Casey CS, kayla James tells us it's not something they plan on giving up anytime soon. From vigil to vigil over a year, somewhat candles held high. Free agent Terrell's name hasn't been forgotten in des Moines. We held out hope for so long. Um, and then to, for it to end the way it did was devastating for the entire community to people like you wanna nelson Brown rob, johnson, Rioja Terrell is more than just a child taken from life too soon, Is it? Pretty hell they say the little girl who loved making people smile his family. She reminded me of myself at that age and my own Children NElson Brown in johnson's initial plan was to hold a public candlelight vigil, saturday night. But with the weather in mind, they instead asked people to light a candle of their own in the evening in remembrance of Re Asia, because we want to make sure that her name continues to be out there. Bridget Charles, mom, Atia Langford couldn't speak on saturday, but Johnson tells us he and his team talked to her often. She's doing as expected. Uh, and I think that's all we can say. But there's more johnson says he and others can do. Everybody cup your head, keep her name alive. We want to make sure that justice is being brought to this case that is not being swept under the rug and that people aren't just ignoring it. So whether it's balloons, her favorite color flying high makeshift memorials being made or candles being lit, johnson and NElson Brown say keeping creations name alive will continue long past this year mark. She was an innocent little girl, a little black girl doing her black girl joy thing and all of a sudden was snuffed out.
