SunStar Photo from National Quincentennial Committee + March 15, 2021 PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte will unveil on March 18 in Barangay Ngolos, Guiuan, Eastern Samar the historical marker identifying the Philippines’ role in the 500th anniversary of the first circumnavigation of the world. This is part of Duterte’s itinerary in Eastern Visayas concerning the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict. Joining him in the unveiling is Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines Jorge Moragas Sanchez, National Quincentennial Committee (NQC) Chairperson and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Senator Bong Go, National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Chairperson and concurrent NQC Executive Director Rene Escalante, Department of Energy Alfonso Cusi, and several other local chief executives and members of the 500 years committee.
