Contest the election in the Supreme Court biden meanwhile addressing supporters in his home state of delaware said that it wasnt up to republicans or democrats to call victory but for the American People he urged patience. Look at the results my colleague michael is standing by. A look again at how its going and some of the nights a key battleground states is america waits with bated breath a. P. Has called arizona with its 11 Electoral College votes for joe biden lets take a look at the rest of the map here we see in the middle again most of those states taken by the president Montana North Dakota south dakota all the way down to texas and of course key states like california with its 55 electoral votes new york with its 29 electoral votes for joe biden but of course picking up the key states of South Carolina and florida with 29 electoral votes lets go to the next graphic here for you and you can see that North Carolina with its 15 electoral votes a key state in this fight for both candidates with 94 percent of the votes coming in the president with a slight lead there 50 point one percent to 48. 00 a very razor thin win there. Holds up lets go to the next graphic michigan 16 electoral votes up there for grabs again michigan one of the 3 blue all states in the midwest that donald trump was able to secure back in 2016 again for the 1st time in almost 30 years joe biden right now to Donald Trump Trump is up 53. 3 percent to 45 point one percent again 72 percent of those votes coming in but it remains to be seen how many votes are still be counted lets go back to sarah. So some interesting results thank you so much michael for walking us through those states. Weve seen some interesting results also some interesting claims so far during this Election Night therefore i would like to bring in our fact checker from d. W. Joshua they have are is standing by with the view on that he is joining us from boston so just what tell us trump warned about fraud for votes being counted later that night is there any truth to those claims. No President Trump doesnt deliver any proof or this claim we cant find any evidence for a stolen or fraud or manipulated election and it remains unclear who is really meant with they maybe the democrats but again there is no there are no proofs on that and if you looked at the 2nd part of the tweets from claimed that the votes cannot be cast after the polls are closed thats simply not true we have to say or he repeated during the sort of the short speech we were talking about. About this fraud in American Public like he said and he wants all voting to stop as if he wanted to say that mail in voting shouldnt be counted anymore thats not according to the law but to leave some space for interpretation here and of course those voters who are or were in line when the polls close may still cause their votes in nevada for example a judge ruled that about 2 dozen polling station could stay open longer so no wonder twitter mark this tweet of President Trump as misleading there were also reports coming in on socalled robo calls during this election day which should confuse view voters many voters were called and told actually to stay whole to not go out and vote is that true. Yes we can confirm these reports there have been robo calls in the state of michigan targeted to residents of the city of flint an area with a large black population we have to say the michigan secretary of state or secretary of state Justin Benson said these calls were made from an unknown parties prodding misinformation like telling voters to stay at home and not to vote and there were also Text Messages being sent to world to voters with the similar content things like this happen to other states too and the f. B. I. Is now investigating these cases and its interesting to see who is standing behind these are terms of Voter Suppression the 1st candidate to make a statement during this Election Night was joe biden he said the following we are on track to victory what are the facts say. Of course this is a man doesnt encourage men to all democrats but to be Crystal Clear we dont know yet who will win this election and joe biden doesnt know neither this raises very close and there are a lot of states which are too close to call in addition we see a lot of states that will go on counting votes by mail only final results we have to say which may be delayed by even days or more well show which week 3 message were somewhat premature and what stands reality about with a view from don thank you so much. While Donald Trumps attacks on mail in ballots and his refusal to comment to commit to a peaceful transfer of power has raised the specter of a disputed election my colleague state obvious to me so misconduct is standing by in washington. Donald trump versus joe by the race could be so tight that neither of them emerge as a clear winner the u. S. Could be in for days even weeks of uncertainty the Record Number of ballots sent by mail could become the focus of a bitter fight. Absentee ballots made it easier for americans to vote in the local damage but those ballots are also more likely to be delayed slowed down by mistake even projected if its an extremely close election and the outcome could turn on absentee ballots that have not been processed or counted by Election Night with pennsylvania and wisconsin being states that are most likely to be in that position. Then i think we do start moving into a more dangerous period we will 1st see fights oh over whether certain absentee ballots should be counted or not be counted with the Election Administrators in those states it wont be surprising if whichever side loses those battles runs to court to try to get a court to overturn it the clock starts ticking on november 3rd election day there are a couple of dates to keep in mind december 8th is safe harbor day that is the deadline for states to declare a result if they want to guarantee that their decision will count towards the National Outcome the next deadline on december 14th the Electoral College has to vote that is the body that actually elects the president the state select either republican or democratic electors depending on the results. If there is still a dispute at that point it could get really complicated both sides might claim victory that means states could end up with opposing groups of electors one for biden another for Trump Congress would be forced to decide between them but if we get to that point were already in a dark and dangerous place and if the process drags out over some significant period of time even though the media is preaching patience to the public i think in our social media toxic political culture that could become a more explosive situation. Fairly quickly. Some americans worry that a more explosive situation could look like this the president s supporters and opponents fighting on the streets Law Enforcement and even the military could be called in to bring things under control. And what about another scenario that democrats fear and that President Trump himself has refused to rule out that he rejects the result if he loses and tries to hang on to the presidency while the current president s term ends on january 20th by virtue of the constitution period i would assume that any officials who might need to be involved in making sure that transition happens will follow the commands of the newly elected President Biden because he would be the president. The legal fight has already started the democrats and the republicans have amassed an army of lawyers who have been clashing in court over how and when ballots should be counted those cases could be could find it in the outcome of the election. And that battle appears to be just heating up you are watching special coverage of the us 2020 president ial election my colleague michael is standing by with the latest results. Sciri want to give our viewers a sense of whats going on with the election at this point where some of the key battleground states and as you look at this map behind me you have a feeling that were going to be surveying this map for hours if not days to come again this is to be expected donald trump of the republicans getting votes in the middle in the of the country in the heartland from montana to north dakota all the way down to texas that of course a very big win in the 29 electoral votes in florida a key great sign for the republicans and of course the democrats are traditionally winning the Coast Washington all the way down to california and its a 55 electoral votes and of course vermont new york and virginia we want to take a look at the next graphic and delve into some of the states more specifically here. Arizona it has been a surprise for many and its 11 Electoral College votes with 80 percent of the votes coming in going to joe biden the last time this state went to a democrat was back in 1996 when bill clinton won and before that it wasnt until 1952 so that gives you some sense about how arizona has been a loyal republican state but again with 80 percent of those votes coming in joe biden appears to be a winner in that state with 51. 9 percent of the vote and 46. 8 percent i think the democrats benefiting from demographic changes in that population and also theres a sizable a Senior Community many of whom were concerned about Donald Trumps handling of the krona virus lets go to the next graphic bikies state of North Carolina weve mentioned this before this is a state that figured in all the metrics for the republicans in their pathway for donald trump to get 270 electoral votes with 94 percent of the vote coming in joe biden behind donald trump 48. 7 percent of the vote to Donald Trumps 50 point one percent which is why the rest of the states particularly that blue wall in the midwest becomes really significant in this race tonight lets show you the next graphic and heres the 1st of that blue wall again which was battered through by donald trump back in 2016 by a razor thin margin with 69 percent of the votes coming in joe biden behind donald trump 45. 2 percent to Donald Trumps 53. 3 percent again the key here is how many absentee ballots have been counted at this point is that in fact reflected in what were seeing here the answer to that is likely not yet lets show you the next graphic wisconsin with its 10 electoral votes. And 94 percent of the votes counted in so good number of the votes that were cast today coming in show up by 50 percent a clear 50 percent of the vote over joe bidens 47. 5 percent and the next graphic for you the big state of pennsylvania very important to joe biden because he considers himself a favorite son of pennsylvania having grown up in Scranton Donald trump winning there in pennsylvania at this point with 64 percent of the vote coming in that is a sizable lead right now 55. 8 percent to joe bidens 43. 0 percent again donald trump was able to win this state back in 2016 he had done this for the 1st time for republicans since 988 and george h. W. Bush so clearly there are people in pennsylvania who are resonating with trumps message lets go back to sarah. Thank you so much michael for walking us through the state of the race one thing very clear this is a nail biter id just like to turn to our Team Coverage now phil are you joining us here in the studio Richard Walker richard ill turn to you 1st we just saw michael illustrates you know the states that are part of that socalled blue wall the states that the democrats were really hoping to win in this election one of them really stood out to me and that is the state of wisconsin where we have 94 percent of the vote counted and it looks like a pretty clear lead for us President Donald Trump in fact he has he seems to have a lead but they amounts that are counted right now in all of them just walk us through what this could mean for the election is it still too early to give an assessment of what might happen there yeah i think its too early because you know these are the states that we were just saying earlier that. Theres been a lot of early voting in this election as mike was just saying is sometimes called absentee ballots so these these votes come in and these 3 states does happen to be states where those votes only start getting counted on election day so you have this huge stash of votes many of which are postal votes as well which have a different process for count for counting them you also have to check signatures often so its a much more laborious process that could take time and the assumption is that. A preponderance of those votes have gone to abide rather than to trump so i think thats why a lot of the networks that may be ordinarily might be calling a state like that with 94 percent of the votes already tallied holding off to see like what is the weighting within within those postal votes. And of course you know one reason why people have been voting by postal voting early is because of the pandemic specially vulnerable older people and it has to be said for democrats who may be more inclined to kind of follow the scientific guidance as weve seen in a lot. Polling to see is that this bit of a kind of partisan split in your attitude significant part is that space in your attitude to how to handle the pandemic these are the people who have been voting early so thats why. The a lot of the. Networks and a. P. And so on her have been pretty cautious about calling out these states where they count of these early votes still is really underway. Ok. Phil id like to ask for your reaction to what we have just heard from richard and perhaps you can also we can react to what the president has to say. You know within the past hour he has said frankly we did win this election he said that you know there has been a fraud on the American Public he said hes going to bring this now to the Supreme Court that he wants to stop the voting tell what this a little bit about the message that he is sending out there and whether the party is behind him now on this yeah absolutely i mean i think the message is is completely unacceptable the United States sends you know as part of its democracy pro promotion sends a poll watchers around the world to prevent exactly statements like that from happening and to prevent. Votes from not being counted so i think that. These statements are attracting attention also from you know obviously from democrats but also from members of the Republican Party that are distancing themselves from them weve seen that with you know Rick Santorum for example republican lawyer ben ben ginsburg even Chris Christie who who are suggesting in some of the remarks that this is going too far that this is just not acceptable for ricks up the kind of rhetoric from a president on the eve of an election and in terms of the blue wall you know i mean this is as richard pointed out incredibly important for the Biden Campaign for both campaigns but this is the blue wall is where the Clinton Campaign you know made a misstep by taking those states for granted which Hillary Clinton then narrowly lost in 2016 in the Biden Campaign has known going into this that these are really important states they have been there you know the Vice President with former president obama in michigan. In. In all of in wisconsin and and pennsylvania really symbolize how important this is for the Biden Campaign they have. Arizona male which is that is a big win for the Biden Campaign that provides them it looks like they are yeah yeah a little bit of a buffer room but but its but that blue wall is very important they dont have nearly a month as much of a buffer as they would have hoped to have at this stage it is it is really striking that. You know if you stand back and lead to the kind of but if you have what will we have here. You know the United States has been through such trouble is the cme so many people have lost their lives in this pandemic the economy is in a kind of state of crises and yet donald trump is highly competitive is quite an impressive achievement even if he doesnt win absolutely this is not at all what you know any of us were expect of the king at the polls coming into this and we we talked a lot about polling error in the 2016 election where there was a lot more volatility in that race there was the you know there was the investigation for Hillary Clintons emails at the end that you know you know polls they did have a margin for trump but this this time were seeing were seeing this. We were expecting a different position for the Biden Campaign at this point phil richard youre going to stick with us but as weve mentioned in our coverage the world is watching this election and we have joining us now from lithuania capital is the former president of that country dalia. Welcome to the program and thank you so much for joining us your reaction to what we are seeing in america today. So as everyone here we have a kin
