Formal charges have been filed following a two-vehicle accident in West Plains Feb. 25 that left two people in critical condition. The West Plains Daily Quill reports 36-year-old Daniel French has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault and one count of driving while intoxicated, persistent offender, all felonies. A warrant has been issued for the West Plains man, with bail set at $50,000, according to court records. The accident occurred at U.S. Highway 63 and Missouri Route CC/Gibson Avenue in West Plains. The West Plains Police Department issued a statement Friday reporting at about 10 the previous night, a northbound van driven by French turned left onto CC Highway from U.S. 63 at a red light and collided with a southbound SUV.
