Flipping through one of the books recently, it reminded City Manager Edward Augustus Jr. of Worcester’s inflated population nearly 100 years ago. “It had a chart of the population,” Augustus said. “I was looking at the early part of the 20th century, we had a number of years where the city’s population was 196,000, it was higher then. We were over 200,000 in different periods.”
