ERCOT Says ‘Energy Conservation Appeal Has Ended' After High Energy Demand

The governing body that manages the state's power grid called on Texans to conserve energy Tuesday afternoon and evening as demand rose close to the available supply.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas tweeted at 4:42 p.m. Tuesday asking consumers and businesses to reduce their power usage into the evening.
ERCOT is requesting energy conservation at this time. Consumers and businesses are urged to reduce their electricity use this afternoon and into the evening.— ERCOT (@ERCOT_ISO) April 13, 2021
ERCOT issued a follow-up statement just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, saying the call for conservation had ended and there was never a need to enter an "energy emergency" situation.
