By Zac Wassink | Last updated 5/18/21 Legendary New York Yankees shortstop and current Miami Marlins part-owner Derek Jeter has been a popular-yet-polarizing figure throughout his decades in big-league baseball. Like NBA royalty Michael Jordan, Jeter will have his own "Last Dance" produced by ESPN Films. On Tuesday, ESPN and MLB confirmed the development of a multi-part documentary series on Jeter's life and career. "The Captain," which will debut on ESPN and ESPN+ in 2022, will detail Jeter's on- and off-the-field exploits during his storied Yankees tenure that will be celebrated when he is officially enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame this July. The series will also touch upon his current role with the Marlins.
