To show their ongoing commitment for racial justice, the Eugene-Springfield NAACP celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a drive-thru rally on Monday. The event saw more than 200 vehicles pass through. Ibrahim Coulibaly, president of the local NAACP chapter said the event was held in honor of Dr. King’s spirit of gathering during difficult times. This includes the rise of white supremacy and the Jan. 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, he said.
