EuPC report: Raw materials shortage threatens essential goods production in Europe Print BRUSSELS—The European polymer converting industry is facing "severe shortages of raw materials and extreme price increases never experienced," according to the latest report by trade association EuPC. In addition to survival pressure on numerous SMEs, the situation is threatening the production of countless products from building and automotive components to essential goods for the food packaging and pharmaceutical supply chains, EuPC said in an April 13 report. "Manufacturers of plastic products all over Europe are experiencing serious bottlenecks in the supply of raw materials since the beginning of this year," EuPC managing director Alexandre Dangis said.
