Severe shortages of raw materials coupled with soaring price increases is putting the European plastics converting industry under extreme pressure, European Plastics Converters (EuPC) has warned.
The improving global economy, increased exports of plastics to Asia and North America, a shortage of containers within Europe, and an unprecedented number of
force majeuredeclarations, are all contributing to supply shortages, industry observers claim.
The situation is described by EuPC as so dire that it is “threatening the economic survival” of numerous small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
It is also endangering the manufacture of countless products, including essential goods for the food packaging and pharmaceutical supply chains, the trade body said. ....
