Evacuations lifted after fire in Mather area in Sacramento County

At least half a dozen homes were evacuated Monday afternoon as crews battled a fire that ignited in Sacramento County. Those evacuation orders have since been lifted.
The fire, which started off Westerly Drive and Excelsior Road in the Mather area, had charred about 110 acres as of around 3 p.m., according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. The fire has a "moderate" rate of spread, the department said. Sign up for our Newsletters
Residents in the Aubergine Way area were temporarily evacuated.
