Ex-West Coast Eagles player-turned-businessman Andrew Donnelly’s pursuit of a $300,000 “disaster” deal while his insurance broking companies were undergoing financial administration has gone on trial in the Supreme Court of WA.
Mr Donnelly and his then-chief financial officer, Kim Hanson, deny any wrongdoing in signing a purchase agreement between Australian Reliance’s subsidiary, Reliance Online, and Queensland family business Doring Insurance Brokers in November 2015. They claim they acted in the best interest of the company over the deal which was at a “price well below market”.
