Medical experts have warned that Nigeria is at risk of yearly, multiple, and concurrent disease outbreaks due to tropical climate, population density and poor socio-economic factors. They, however, said the country is yet to see the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The medical experts brainstormed on lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic and other disease outbreaks at the maiden edition of the Nigerian Conference of Applied and Field Epidemiology (NiCAFE). The conference, which was held virtually, was organised by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in collaboration with partners from July 26 to 28, 2021. x The theme of this year’s NiCAFE conference was “Building back better: COVID-19 and other disease outbreaks”.
