The result was great turnout for the fair this year. “We are all in awe of how many people came out to support the Knox County Fair,” said Darcy Thorp of the fair board. From a record number of crowds and sponsorships to a huge turnout for livestock shows and a packed grandstand for nightly events, Thorp estimates 30,000 to 35,000 people attended the fair. “The carnival numbers were double what we usually have,” Thorp said. “In every event, numbers were up.” Thorp said more than 2,500 tickets were sold for the fair’s live music event, the Roots and Boots Music Tour.
