Falmouth residents have once again called for changes to the Steamship Authority ferry schedule that would drop the 5:30 AM freight boat out of Woods Hole. About 120 participants logged on to a virtual Steamship hearing on Monday, May 3, to offer testimony against the proposed 2022 schedule, including an early morning freight run that has angered many Falmouth residents since it began in 2012. Woods Hole residents say the freight trucks cause excessive noise as they travel down Woods Hole Road starting before 5 AM. Many said they feel the Authority has not been taking their objections on this perennial issue seriously and doubt the boat line is looking into long-term planning as demand for goods and freight on Marthaâs Vineyard grows.
