A tax cut now expected next week as the dow hit a new intraday high earlier but then closed down 76 points, as senator marco rubio now says he will vote against the deal unless it includes a larger tax break for children. Tonight, how that tax break creates big payout from uncle sam for people who never pay in. And of course, the course against Robert Mueller grows gop leaders including Senate Judiciary chair Chuck Grassley now demanding the Justice Department get real with more information about alleged anti trump proHillary Clinton bias in the fbi. Weve got exclusive analysis from former fbi director Jim Kallstrom tonight plus a bomb threat clears the offices of the chief internet regulator in d. C. Which voted on new Game Changing rules affecting how you watch and shop online. It was a false alarm but well bring you more on that vote and speaking of streaming, a mega deal. Disney buying a big chunk of 21st century fox for 52. 4 billion. Again that is a landmark deal that will redraw the hollywood landscape forever. Tonight an allstar line up of guests including liz peak, president ial historian doug wie, protrump joy villa, and as well as again fbi director former fbi director Jim Kallstrom. Welcome to risk reward im elizabeth macdonald. President trump literally cutting unnecessary red tape saying his administration has cut 22 regulations for each new one added as the president and the gop tried to push the tax bill over the goal line, but it was a chaotic day in d. C. First, the spc commission abruptly evacuated they were having a meeting to vote to repeal obamaera internet rules due to a false bomb threat again it was a false alarm. The vote went through. More in a moment and then house quarterback paul ryan denying a report that says he will step down next year. He says thats not true and we also have this some senators talking about the tax deal, including senator marco rubio who now says hes against the tax plan, unless it expands a Child Tax Credit that helps families particularly the working poor. Liz peak will be on that in a moment but lets first get to adam shapiro in d. C. With the latest wow a lot going on in d. C. Today whats the latest on the tax deal . Where do you want to begin . Lets talk about the three undecided maybe a no. Youve got marco rubio saying he would vote no unless he gets what he wants because hes demanding he gets what he wants and then youve got mike lee who sponsored tax credit for Child Tax Credit legislation with mr. Rubio, which was voted down on the senate a couple weeks ago hes saying hes undecided and then bob corker who voted again this the one republican saying hes undecided but in regards to mr. Rubio, he wants to do, if you are in an income bracket the lowest that does not have any federal income tax liability, he wants to create a Child Tax Credit that would allow you to get a refund essentially from your payroll taxes roughly 1100 tax credit. Here is how he described it. Throughout this process id outline the need to increase the refundable part for the Child Tax Credit, as its currently structured its only 1100 so a lot of people making 25,000 working are not going to be able to utilize as much of the credit as they need. And he kind of poked a finger into the eye of Republican Leadership tweeting within the last hour, that look if you can lower the top income tax bracket to 37 you can certainly do this , for the people at the other end, so here is what President Trump said about whether they would get an agreement or not and get rubio to say yes. President trump hes really been a great guy, very supportive and i think that senator rubio will be there and were doing very well on the tax front. They have tremendous support. They have tremendous spirit. And the expectation is that mr. Rubio will get what he wants and they will get a yes vote. The question though is what about mr. Corker and of course theres the issue that some people are a little worried about which is john mccains health will he be able to vote next week as well as another senator thad cochran from mississippi. We are told that mr. Mccain is expected to vote next week and the question now is where will the vote first take place, would it be the house first or the senate, that still has to be decided. Tomorrow they file the legislation and then we get all the details in it. Liz great reporting thank you so much adam. Really chaotic day in d. C. Republican florida senator marco rubio saying he will vote no on the tax bill unless there is an uncrease in the Child Tax Credit senator rubio is not the only one with problems with the bill as you just heard. Susan collins does not like lowering the top tax rate. Bob corker worried about the debt and dont forget the democrats oregon senator ron wid en saying the gop plan works against the middle class. Roll tape. This is the ultimate betrayal of the middle class. It doesnt give middle class americans the tax cuts they deserve now and it takes away medicare and Social Security later. Liz lets bring in liz peak on that. Whats your answer to ron widen . Hes wrong and he knows hes wrong. Democrats are terrified about this tax bill. Not only passing but then being successful, extending this booming economy, the booming stock market, and they know, they have been lying, i mean Senate Democrats have been lying about this tax bill for weeks even the Washington Post has called him out on it. As it turns out, because of the doubling of the standard deduction, because of the Child Tax Credit, and because of lower tax rate on people earning less than 77,000, first of all, 25 of working families are not going to pay any taxes at all and thats a big hike in that number and secondly, the 80 of people making below 86,000, everyone eyes are glazing over will get a tax cut so hes wrong but lets not forget the second act here but its yes there is a big Corporate Tax cut coming and thats good for corporation profits and thats good for hiring and investing in the United States. Now we have no incentives for Companies Investing here. Thats the second part. Liz lets get the criticism of what that argument the trickle down economics argument even though weve lived with trickle down government for the last 10 years, republican strategist Steve Schmidt blasting his partys tax bill on msnbc. Roll tape. The fundamental economic problem in the country is a lack of real wage growth for middle income workers, period, full stop. Its such a problem, its de stabilizing our politics because its a problem thats been building for a generation. This does nothing to deal with that. It doesnt drive growth for that part of the population and anybody who thinks that this Corporate Tax cut is going to trickle down to lift wages has a staggering ignorance of how Public Companies function. Liz they need a secretary of labor under president bill clinton also attacking economist steve moore on the same issue. Roll tape. We wanted to help businesses and by the way whats wrong with helping american businesses . If theyre actually going to hire people. Theyre buying their own shares of stock, they are buying other companies they are inflat ing executive pay, there is no trickle down. If you give them more tax cuts, theyre just going to be more involved in buying back their shares of stock and most of that is going to go to executives. Liz okay lets stay on this issue. Theres so much missing here that robert meich, msnbc and Steve Schmidt dont report on. Theres a lot awol here. I need to address the stock buyback issue. When Companies Issue stock they raise money and capital to expand their companies and grow jobs. Weve had historically low Economic Growth under obama. Weve had carter, jimmy carter levels, job growth, and poor wage growth. Trump is trying to change that with tax cuts and trade deals and look at what else robert rei ch, and Steven Schmidt ignore and dont talk about. Millions of americans own 26. 6 trillion in pension assets everybody has a stake in the market going up, 1. 7 million jobs created yeartodate, 4. 1 jobless rate, 9. 8 poverty rate the lowest in 10 years again obamas track record of job growth was jimmy carter level. He was behind bill clinton and ronald reagan. Trump is trying to change that. And he is changing it already we seen an acceleration in the economy weve had two quarters of above 3 growth and all of this began the day after the election. Thats what democrats really cant deny, the surge in optimism, the surge in shares. I mean remember the market was up 297 points the day after the election. You have to kind of back up and say why is the market up so much on the tax bill and weve seen every time the tax bill looks more promising the market goes up. Why . Because investors know that this is going to be good for the economy. Job growth has accelerated and wages are the big question mark. Why arent wages growing faster . First of all nobody wants to talk about this. Theres still tens of millions of americans on the sidelines not working. Those people arent covered in the unemployment numbers because it was an embarrassment to count those people. Liz but all those lefties at msnbc and on the left, the Obama Administration and democrats they got everything they wanted and we had really bad job growth they got everything they wanted and it didnt work and now they want to try something new. Including this blowup of the Federal ReserveBalance Sheet and again, that probably on the horizon that is probably the thing that concerns me most. We dont know how that is going to be drawn down. But we had unbelievable monetary excess for eight or nine years, and really what do we have to show for it and what they wanted to do was push up wages artificially through a higher minimum wage, instead of organic ally through more people being hired. I will guarantee you wage growth is going to accelerate in the next six months. Liz and not even talking about the robot revolution. These guys there are so out to lunch its like drive by media analysis they dont look at the facts. They dont want this to work liz. The worst thing for them is the economy does well. Liz by the way when you do a stock buyback it helps the investors like the teachers and cops in those pension plans. Okay politicians hitting Deputy Attorney general Rod Rosenstein hard over mueller team bias after those text conversations between peter strzok and lisa page were released lets roll tape and watch this. And then low and behold, those who were supposed to make sure there are no conflicts of interest seem to have a few of their own. High ranking fbi officials involved in the clinton investigation were personally invested in the outcome of the election. This guy thought he was super agent james bond at the fbi. Im hero tell you mr. Rosenstein i think the public trust in this whole thing is gone. Not a single solitary american, he can imagine, would vote for donald trump. This is the conflict of interest free special agent assigned. Did mr. Mueller take appropriate action in this case . Yes, he did. Have you seen good cause to fire special Council Mueller . No. Liz the heat is on with Robert Mueller, liz. Just peter strzok with the fbi he let two Hillary Clinton aids basically mislead and lie to the fbi when they said he didnt know clinton had a private email server, when in fact they did know and now mueller is prosecuting mike flynn for lying to the fbi and peter strzok is in on that part of the probe too i think everyone in the country is now looking at this saying wait a minute none of this really adds up. Are there no senior fbi people who could be involved in the Mueller Investigation that were not clinton partisans . I mean its sort of unthinkable right . They either gave money to Hillary Clinton, they were involved somewhere through their relatives in Hillary Clintons campaign, they participated in her suppose ed victory party. Its pretty unbelievable and even normal people im not a conspiracy theorist but i think people are beginning to think liz you think families across the country are saying wow theres a deep conspiracy. We dont want that. Theyre not trustworthy. Liz liz peak good to see you come back soon. The dow taking a fall in the new concerns over the tax cut bill and Nicole Petallides on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange with the latest. Nicole . Nicole it was a record and then it wasnt. We did have an intraday record for the Dow Jones Industrial average during the day up more than 85 points and at the close, the dow does finish down 76 points, the s p dropped 10. The big deal was that if the dow would have closed in positive territory, it would have been the 69th record close of 2017. The most in any calendar year since 1995 and that is it in history and well see if we could do it by the end of the year. Take a look at the dow winners, disney, boeing, nike leading the way, disney gaining obviously a deal with fox that helped them along, caterpillar helped and verizon to the downside. Liz . Liz thanks, joyville a was the talk of the grammies earlier this year with her make America Great again address. Now the hollywood singer is taking it a step further and running for congress. Shes here with us to talk about that and how she wants to drain the swamp as well. Also, this Senate JudiciaryCommittee ChairChuck Grassley now demanding answers from the Justice Department on those fbi Text Messages and bias within the mueller probe. We have fbi assistant director Jim Kallstrom is here and he says fbi agents are not supposed to act like that but first my next guest says there are many erie similarities between President Trumps speech last night and taxes and president Ronald Reagans back in 1985. President ial historian doug weed here to show us the evidence, next. My fellow citizens id like to speak to you tonight about our future. President trump today we stand on the verge of a new economic miracle. The opportunity for everyone to hip their wagon to a star and set out to reach the American Dream. President trump a nation that thinks big, dreams bigger, and always reaches for the stars they made it more Like Washington itself, complicated, unfair, cluttered with loopholes President Trump our current tax code is burden some, complex , and profoundly unfair. Each of us will have a greater incentive to climb higher, to excell, to help america grow. President trump when government loosens its grip, there is no summit we cannot reach. My fellow citizens, lets not let this magnificent moment slip away. President trump if you make your voices heard this moment will be forever remembered as a great new beginning. The American Dream belongs to you. President trump and we are going to make the American Dream and thats the real dream. That will be the dream that you want for your children and your grandchildren once again. Liz you saw the similarities between President Trumps speech yesterday on taxes and president renailed reagans speech back in 1985 lets bring in president ial historian doug weed. Hi, liz. Liz how did you think the two speeches compared . Yeah, [laughter] thats no accident, liz. It was a different time. We have to realize these two president s are not joined at the hip, but theyre both populous. Reagan was facing the cold war and other challenges we dont factor in when we compare the economics. We also dont factor in this was five years into reagans presidency, so Donald Trumps trying to pull this off in his first year. Thats quite a feet but both president s had a suffocating Mainstream Media that hated them reagan was called a racist and a war monger, and both inherited very poor economies. We tend to not appreciate how difficult the economy was that donald trump inherited because were proud of ourselves having elected an African American as president. We dont like them knocking barack obama but this was eight years of very slow economy and we have to do something and here we go. Liz but you actually spoke with president reagan about his tax reform. Tell us about that. Yes, it surprised me. Its his proudest moment you would assume it would be the end of the cold war which saved humanity but i asked him, you know of all of the things that happened on his watch, what he was most proud of and he said that it was this tax reform, which were trying to do right now so thats interesting to me. Liz thats really interesting, doug wead, we love having you on the show. Thank you,
