To pay for the border wall. Now Senate LeaderChuck Schumer is back out of the deal. More violent offenders to the u. S. All because its feeling the heat of the trump crackdown. More stunning revelations involving peter strzok, the top fbi investigator. He may have expressed concern about joining Robert MuellersRussia Probe Team because there was nothing there. Evidence of more bias, well have the messages and more on the missing messages. Google has an actual secret Speech Police. Agencies around the world monitoring youtube for the socalled explicit content. Coming up, well speak to a guest who says theyre going after conservatives. Well explain and break it down. We have an allstar guest lineup for you including ben stein, former trump 2016 Deputy Campaign manager david bossie. Author of your kids are your own fault. I love it. Larry winget and dr. Jeanette. Politics and your money. Weve got you covered as always. Im ashley webster, risk reward starts right now. What the president did clearly worked. The votes came in 8118. I would say the numbers are are much more in the president s favor than in senator schumers favor. Im not sure what other positive things came out of this weekend for democrats. The dow closing in the red, but no big deal. Down three points to 26,210. Still a remarkable level. The nasdaq and s p, well, ending at record highs again as netflix surged today. More on that in a moment. But first, more u. S. Companies giving back thanks to those new gop tax cuts. Verizon announcing today it is spreading the wealth giving almost all of its 155,000 employees 50 shares of verizon stock. And media giant disney saying it will give 125,000 employees a onetime, 1,000 cash bonus and invest in a whopping 50 million into Education Funding program. Plus, bigtime wall street Bank Jpmorgan chase unveiling 20 billion Investment Plan to hike wages for 22 hows employees by average of 10 . Theyre going to hire 4,000 employees and open up to 400 chase branches. All three stocks, verizon, disney and jpmorgan closing the day in the red. Down less than 1 each. There you have it, down slightly on the day. Joining me now, our good friend, economist and author of the capitalist code, ben stein is with us. As always. Thank you for joining us. What do you think of the big businesses taking advantage of the gop tax cuts, of course, but are giving it back to employees . Its not just a token, right . This is real, real money for real people. Its very much real money for real people. And i have to say i was one of the cynics about the tax break and did not think it was going to work out as well as it worked out. Its working fantastically well. Im extremely impressed with secretary mnuchin, the secretary of treasury and couldnt dream it worked out so well and so quickly. Its a great, great thing, as for mrs. Pelosi calling them pathetic crumbs, ill have some of the crumbs. I will as well. Ben. White house chief economic adviser gary cohn speaking moments ago. Listen to this. First question, as far as economic growth, we just had a litany of businesses that are going to give back to the American People, but isnt it unfair to give the president credit for that . They already had the money in the coffers, right . They would have not turned it loose, otherwise . And i had a second question for him. I would disagree with the premise, completely. You know, look, if they had their money in the coffers, they could have done it last year, the year before, the year before, it seem thes like, not seems like, since we have passed the tax reform plan, all of these announcements have been made and if you look specifically at the words in most of these press releases, all of them are talking about the regulatory relief which we saw in the jpmorgan announcement, and weve seen the tax plan mentioned directly that companies now feel more comfortable about the economic position theyre in. They feel better about the u. S. Economy, they feel more confident about their earnings and feel like the lower tax rate allows them to share more of their potential earnings with their employees. So i think theres 100 correlation between what weve seen these almost close to 200 companies do and what we have done from a regulatory standpoint and more of the tax policy standpoint. I think gary cohn showed a lot of restraint there. The premise was they have the money anyway, the money was already in the coffers. That shows misunderstanding of the Economic Impact of the tax cuts. These companies have cited that the tax reform every time they hand out the bonuses and stock and everything else. Right, well the companies, the American Companies have an almost unimaginable wad of cash stored up in the coffers. To use that expression. They no longer think if they start paying that out, wall street is going to bite them in the rear and hurt them and punish them for doing good deeds. There is a famous saying, no good deed goes unpunished. Mr. Trump explained thats not true as far as business is concerned. Good deeds will be rewarded and not punished and i think that is a huge impact on american business. American business now knows they are marching forward with the government on their side not with the government snidely at them and that has enormous impact how the government is run and the economy is run. They have a partnership between government and business, and that partnership is now expanding wildly, rapidly to the employees as well. It is a very, very big day for america. I absolutely agree, and another goody for you. A reporter calling out the white house for attending davos this week . What went into the president s decision to go davos. First sitting president to go since 2000. A lot of what the forum is about goes against his populist decisionmaking agenda. Now listen to President Trump talking in june about putting rich people in this cabinet. Take a listen. Why did you appoint a rich person to be in charge of the economy . [laughter] i said, no, its true. And wilbur is a very rich person in charge of xhefrments i said because thats the kind of thinking we want. You know, really. Because theyre representing the country. They dont want the money. These are people that are great, brilliant business minds and thats what we need, what we have to have. So the world doesnt take advantage of it. We cant have the world taking advantage of us anymore. And i love all people. Rich or poor, but in those particular positions, i just dont want a poor person. Does that make sense . Does that make sense . If you insist ill do it, but i like it better this way, right . He was a pretty good candidate. Ill put the davos question aside because if he didnt go to davos he would be criticized for that. To the president s point, dont rich people control job creation whether you like it or not, so it makes sense to appoint them to the cabinet . Some rich people control job creation and some dont. A lot of very, very rich democrats. We get the impression that all the rich people are republicans. Great majority of very large donations to the last president ial campaign, milliondollar contributions came from democrats not republicans. Republicans are Good Business people, by and large, there are exceptions to be sure, and they know that Good Business policy to treat your employees right and the government is saying to you, were going to encourage you to spend your money, to invest your money, to build a Bigger Capital base for this country. Were going to go along with it. We dont think government is going to come along and bite us. When i used to do a lot of speeches for business people, they were terrified of government. Now they think government is their friend. Thats an enormous difference. Liz huge. Switch gears to Chuck Schumer, drawing 1. 6 billion on the president s wall. Do you think, ben, that mr. Schumer taking the wall funding off the table. He was humiliated over the governments shutdown or standoff, now hes trying to appease the liberal members of the democrats by taking that promise money away. I think that democrats screwed up this Government Shutdown so badly, its almost unbelievable. There never was any point to it. Stood in the way of progress, paying the women and men who fought our wars and protect our borders. Never any point to it at all. Why they did it is a complete mystery to me, and why mr. Schumer stood up there and said it was the republicans fault when its the democrats fault is a complete mystery to me. Ive rarely seen a political blunder so clear cut as this one. It never made any sense at all. Luckily now, weve got to do something about. This weve got a multiyear funding, especially for defense. Weve got to have a situation for defense contractors can build the defense buildup so desperately without having to worry about having the rug pulled out from their feet. Defense is the number one goal of america. We cannot have congress playing games with it. Liz how about this issue, ben. Chuck schumer calling out the president saying its like talking with jello. Take a listen to this. Negotiating with this white house is like negotiating with jello. Its next to impossible. As soon as you take one step forward, the hard right forces the president three steps back. Or could you argue, mr. Stein, as mr. Schumer took one step forward, the hard left told him to back out because they dont like the president. They dont want to do any deal on immigration and thats why they have the Government Shutdown for 20 days. Well, i think you have nailed it exactly. What mr. Schumer is saying is nothing more than the Political Parties are responsive to the people that elect them. And mr. Trump is responsible to the people who elected him and mr. Schumer is responsible to the people who elected him. For mr. Schumer to have said mr. Trump is hard to negotiate with, thats a joke. Weve seen how the democrats argue about immigration, one day its this, one day its that. Their policy on immigration is never made any sense at all. Why we should be admitting huge numbers of people who by definition are criminals, that has always been a mystery to me. Total mystery to me and still is. Whats a bigger mystery is the democrats used to support citizens over noncitizens, watch this. It is wrong and ultimately selfdefeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it. We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented, unchecked. We do not want to do anything to encourage more ilLegal Immigration into this country. The American People are fundamentally pro Legal Immigration and antiilLegal Immigration. We will only pass comprehensive reform when we recognize this fundamental concept. Its a fundamental concept, but what happened, ben . Democrats used to be tough on ilLegal Immigration. Now because they shut down the government over it, is this all about them trying to get more votes on that population . Well, trying to get more votes from that population, and remember, america runs on razor thin margins, 700,000 more votes on democrats is not a trivial thing. Theyve got a hard left component that loves illegal immigrants. Why they love them so much, i dont know. Its a scary thing to think were dealing with people who came here illegally and claim they have the right to be here and have the right to all kinds of Government Services ahead of people who are born here. Gets my blood boiling. Thats for another day. Ben stein, we covered a lot of ground. You were great as always. Appreciate it. God bless you, sir . Same to you. The dow closing lower today. The author of your kids are your own fault, larry winget is here to react on that. Outrage after the nfl rejects a please stand ad from a veterans group. First the news of texts between peter strzok and lisa page. David bossie is here to react, after this. Ashley bring you up to speed on this. The senate is voting on confirmation of Jerome Powell as Federal Reserve chairman. He is current member of the Federal Reserve boards of governors and former private Equity Investor and treasury official. Well keep an eye on that for you. Another text between fbi agent peter strzok and lisa page has emerged with strzok expressing concern about joining Robert Muellers russia investigation team. This is what strzok texts page, quote, you and i both know the odds are nothing. If i thought it was likely there would be no question. I hesitate in part because my gut sense and concern, theres no big there there. Ashley no big there there, joining me former trump 2016 Deputy Campaign manager and coauthor of let trump be trump. David bossie joins us now. David, so strzok here who is supposed to be heading up the investigation already believed there was no there there. Objectivity not exactly a rampant among this investigation. Another example, right . Yeah, we have a lot of problems in this investigation, clearly, but that is actually a contemporaneous note to his colleague who is having an affair with, at the same time, we forget that, but this is a true statement where hes saying, look, i would like to get involved but there is nothing there there. Meaning as somebody who is paying very close attention to the socalled russia collusion thing, i go to the investigation but theres nothing there. I think that thats really very telling. Ashley i want to get into this with you, david. The five months of missing texts, theyre from between strzok and page who apparently did nothing all day but text each other. Theyve gone missing, from a critical period, from the president ial transition to the day Robert Mueller gant investigation. We have no texts. My theory is they were so awful, so embarrassing, so prejudicial, they were magically lost . Whats your feelings on this . Its very convenient that those texts have gone missing, but i got to tell you, our nations leading Law Enforcement agency doesnt lose emails and texts. They find them, and so i think we have all the reasons to believe and have confidence that adults at the fbi and at the department of justice will put together the right team of forensic folks to recover those texts. Ashley so do you think were going to see the light of day of the texts . Without question. Were going to see every single one of them. By the way, if i was running the investigation in congress or at the fbi, i would not only be trying to reconstruct them within the fbi but issuing subpoenas to those phone companies where they are stored. Everyone needs to understand, emails and Text Messages live on beyond just your handheld device or computer, and so somebody is storing them somewhere, and those experience could be answered very, very rapidly. Ashley no surprise here, but there was no coverage of the missing texts on all three networks but did cover big issues like this. Another Royal Wedding in the uk. Mini mouse got a star on the hollywood walk of fame and talk about the super bowl. If this were democrats and republicans and republicans magically somehow lost the text, it would be a twohour special on cnn, right . It would be dominating the news, you are exactly right. This is what the president really hits so well on. He understands the Mainstream Media is so one sided, is lopsided in coverage and the American People and hes educated the American People over the last couple of years. Year of the campaign and then the first year in the white house. That the Mainstream Media is so biased, those numbers, zeros, literally zeros, zer seconds on a major story, the president calls one of the most important. Thats going to be borne out. This is going to be a very devastating, unfortunately for the fbi, which i i honor the fbi and i want them to be to get back to the days of when they were considered the greatest Law Enforcement agency and they had to clean house here, i think, in order to get there. Ashley well, to that point. Last night the gop lawmakers raised concerns over reference to, quote, secret society and the fbi agents text conversations, here is republican congressman trey gowdy. The day after the election, the day after, what they really, really didnt want to have happen, theres a Text Exchange between the two fbi agents, supposed to be objective, factcentric fbi agents saying this is the first meeting of the secret society. First i want to know what secret society ar
