Some of the stop stories this morning, President Trump and joe biden trading jabs in a no holds barred first president ial debate. In more than 90 minutes of debate, it was full of interruptions and insults, both candidates taking each other to task on everything from the Supreme Court to the covid19 pandemic. He said he didnt tell us or give people a warning of it because he didnt want to panic the American People. You dont panic. He panicked. If we would have listened to you the country would have been left wide open, millions of people would have died, not 200,000, and one person is too much. Its chinas fault. This is the same man its all set up. Who said by easter this would be gone away, by the warm weather it would be gone, like a miracle. People like this would rather make it political than save lives. Dagen both candidates sparring over the number one issue for voters this election, the economy. Hes going to be the first president in the United States to leave office, having fewer jobs in his administration than when he became president. We handed him a booming economy. He blew it. I had to close the greatest economy in the history of our country, and by the way now its being built again. Ive done more in 47 months, ive been more than youve done in 47 years, joe. Dagen later today, President Trump will hold a rally in minnesota while joe biden takes a train tour of ohio and pennsylvania. A story that maria reported first, and now a bombshell, declassified documents showing that obama Administration Officials were briefed on allegations that Hillary Clinton was attempting to tie then candidate donald trump to russia in order to distract from her email scandal before the 2016 election. In a letter to the Senate Judiciary committee, the director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe, writes that while the administration was aware of the allegations, the Intelligence Community could not verify its accuracy or the, quote, extent to which the russian intelligence analysis may reflect exaggeration or fabrication. We will continue to report on this story as it unfolds. Today, former fbi director jim comey will give virtual testimony before the Senate Judiciary committee as part of the panels investigation into the origins of the russia probe. He is expected to be grilled about the steele dossiers role in the fbis investigation even after information came out that showed it was false. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin set to meet again today, looking for an agreement on a you new coronavirus stimulus deal. The two met yesterday for about 50 minutes after democrats unveiled a less expensive package to the tune of just 2. 2 trillion. House gop leaders have counseled members to vote against that bill. And i will turn it back over to Maria Bartiromo. Good morning. Maria all right. Good morning, dagen. What a clash in cleveland last night. President trump and former Vice President joe biden not holding back during last nights big debate, sparring on everything from joe bidens son, hunter biden, the Supreme Court, covid19, and healthcare. 200,000 people that have died on his watch, how many of those that survived, theres 7 Million People that contracted covid, what does it mean for them Going Forward if you strike down the Affordable Care act . Joe, youve had 108,000 military people die because you couldnt he provide them proper healthcare in the military. Im happy to talk about this. Heres the deal. If you were here it wouldnt be 200, it would be 2 Million People because you were late on the draw. You should go out and vote. Vote and let your senators know how strongly you feel. Are you going to pack the court . Make sure you let people know hes not going to answer that question. Im not going to answer the question. Why wont you answer the question. Radical left will you shut up, man, im proud of my son. He wasnt given tens of millions of dollars, thats totally President Trump, youve already been weve already been through this. I think the American People would rather hear about more substantial so do i. Well, you know, as the moderator, sir, im going to make a judgment call here. 3 andahalf Million Dollars from the mayor of moscow. That is not true. That report is totally discredited. Maria joining me right now is michigan congresswoman Debbie Dingell and ohio congressman, brad winstrop. Joining the conversation all morning, Dagen Mcdowell and mark penn. Great to see everybody this morning. What a night. Congresswoman dingell, let me start with you many your reaction to that debate . Look, it was an embarrassment for everybody. It was not a night of american democracy should be civil. You can disagree and not be disagreeable. I think President Trump came to this debate prepared to bully, to goad. He successfully did that. I dont think either it just was a night that i think was an embarrassment for all of us, not one that allowed anybody to talk about the issues or see either of them in their best light. Maria and thats why i think you and i have so many great conversationses, congresswoman, because we go through the issues, looking at things on both sides. Congressman winstrop, that wasnt actually possible last night. Joe biden also came to fight, calling President Trump names, shut up, man. It was hard to get anything really of substance for the American Public. What did think . I would agree with what congresswoman dingell just said. But at the same time, it was really both sides. I mean, the president was called a liar, a fool, a racist, a clown. He was called ridiculous. He was told to shut up. And there really wasnt control. But i think part of the problem is there were a lot of questions that maybe should have been asked. I do think that the president probably looked at the debate with paul ryan a few years ago where joe biden really was running roughshowe roughshod ovl ryan. I think the president was trying to make sure he got his points in and they both were and so thats what we got. There were some moments there of substance that we should really take a look at and one of the things i thought was important that the president brought up when they talk about a peaceful transition, he said i never had a transition because i constantly was being harassed with these collusion allegations before, during and even after i was dually elected and so there are a lot of questions that could have been asked along the way. For example, why did joe biden call the president xenophobic when he wanted to shut down travel. We actually did do a pretty good job with the pandemic in a very challenging situation, something no one has ever seen. We flattened the curve. We now have therapeutics. Were on the way to a vaccine. We dont want to see anyone die. At some point someone is going to ask joe biden is china responsible for any of this and if not, why not, and what would you have done about it differently because all we know is that he said he would not have shut down travel and called the president xenophobic. Maria yeah. Not a lot of china conversation in there. Surprising, given that the behavior from the Chinese Communist party has really persisted. I want to get back to russia in a second. Let me bring in Dagen Mcdowell right now. Dagen, what did you think . Dagen well, i consider myself to be an expert in what happened last night because i am an avid watcher of the real housewives franchises and ive watched two reunion shows recently and last night was exactly like a real housewives reunion. It is complete crossover talk, talking over one another, interrupting, rehashing the past, and getting nowhere fast. Theres nothing that you get out of it other than entertainment. This would have been entertaining if it hadnt been a president ial debate. Maria having said that, the expectations were down there, were low for joe biden and in fact congresswoman i think he exceeded those expectations. Yes . He did a great job. I mean, he was fully engaged the whole time. He did talk back. He had moments of looking at the camera. And i do think that he got theres some moments that we need to really be concerned about when we saw him by the way, brad, i want to talk to when you talk about the pandemic, the fact of the matter is, that we are 4 of the worlds population. Weve had 200,000 deaths. Were 20 of the deaths in the world. And when you talk about china, i wrote a letter to the cdc the beginning of january when the president or the cdc had closed was checking in two airports but not my detroit airport where there were direct flights from wuhan and the Auto Industry is located in w wuhan and we were e of the first places in michigan to have bad numbers. I think we can look at that i think another moment that when he sort of egged on the that bothered me. I hate the fear and hatred thats dividing the country. I think thats a moment in the debate which he took to, instead of going together, it bothered me. Maria one of the things that has divided us, congressman winstrop, is the russia collusion situation. Yesterday we had blockbuster declassified documents. John ratcliffe declassified key documents which reveal it was Hillary Clintons idea to distract from her email scale dan and obama Administration Officials were briefed on this. Congressman, your reaction to what we saw yesterday, declassified by ratcliffe. Well, i think were going to see more things declassified and we need to see things declassified. You know, this is something that we as republicans on the Intelligence Committee in the house, we have known about these types of things for some time. Classified information is something that we have held close the vest, we werent participating in leaks. Its going to take declassification of a lot of these things for the American People to know exactly what took place. This was to me the worst scandal that has ever come upon the United States of america, to go after a dually elected president of the United States in this way and to use tools in our agencies are even worse, that they would play into this and go after the president , his campaign team, ruin their lives, and doing it all in an nefarious way and all for politics and i applaud the director, director ratcliffe, for what he is doing because the American People need to know what took place and who performed these acts. Maria yeah. I agree that this is the biggest political scandal weve ever seen. Congresswoman dingell, real quick on this, the quote from the dni report is this. On september 7, 2016, u. S. Intelligence officials voted an investigative referral to jim comey and peter strzok regarding candidate Hillary Clintons you approval of a plan for donald trump and Russian Hackers to hamper u. S. Election as a means of distracting. Pretty heavy stuff, congresswoman. Real quick. Look, we are going to be offered a classified briefing, lets not play politics with our of intelligence. I want to see the facts. I did see them. I want you to see them. Maria the facts. I want to see them. Maria congresswoman Debbie Dingell, congressman brad winstrop, thank you so much. Markets are down this morning, futures down about 200 points on the dow industrials after a contentious first president ial debate last night. Dow futures down 234, nasdaq down 99, and the s p right now down 26. Investors uncertain with a little more than a month until election day. Joining me right now is chief Investment Officer nancy tan tangler. Futures are down. Do you think this is a reaction to the debate last night . How do you see things . Thanks for having me, maria. Listen, as the debate went on, the futures strengthened last night. Which i thought was very interesting. The market is a predicter of future of the results of the election, typically, always has been. And the market is up about 2 andahalf percent since the end of july which is the period that everyones kind of looking at, july to october. So then to see the selloff this morning, its difficult to sort of put your finger on it except to say that i think what the market is sensing is that were going to continue to have gridlock on things like the stimulus, the h the debate it nt softening. As you discussed this morning, it was super uncomfortable. I was sitting in my own living room and i was uncomfortable just watching and listening. Unfortunately, i didnt think the debate was very well controlled by the moderator, chris wallace. So i think the markets just kind of markets just kind of sighing and selling off some on that. Maria so lets look ahead. Today is the last day of the Third Quarter. The economy obviously one of the focuses last night at the debate. The Journal Editorial Board pointing out a new Federal Reserve report indicating that the wealth gap has shrunk under President Trump. Ive been talking about this for a long time, that the survey of Consumer Finances shows median family incomes up 5 . The adp numbers, the jobs numbers out this morning at 8 1. 650,000 jobs expected to be added to the private sector. So the economy seems to be strengthening, nancy, and right before covid showed up, income inequality was actually narrowing. Whats your take on the Fourth Quarter as it kicks off tomorrow and beyond, 2021, in terms of the economic backdrop for investing, nancy . Yeah, well and also, maria, the poverty rate is a historic low and savings are robust. So the consumers to the extent that people are working, the consumer is in decent shape. Actually, quite good shape thanks to stimulus. And so what were looking at is the underlying economy as well, and consumer confidence, weve got those numbers yesterday, through the roof. So i think what were focused on are the pmis and if you look at the purchasing manager index globally, 14 out of 18 regions are either expansionary and or strengthening. I think were in a position to see global synchronized growth. I know thats a cliche in some circles. I think we will begin to see that, the lagged effects of fiscal and monetary stimulus will kick in, in the first half of next year. Despite the election, and i know partisans dont like to hear this, i think you want to be invested in this market for some time because i think were starting a new bull market. Maria new bull market. Sounds good. Nancy, great to see you this morning. Thank you. Coming up, new bombshell documents on
