More than 8. 7 million cases have been confirmed in the United States, more than 225,000 have died from covid19. The department of justices antitrust lawsuit against google is moving forward. A federal judge scheduled the first hearing for this friday. The 1 trillion lawsuit accuses the company of using its power in the industry to hobble competitors. The hearing will be held over the telephone and is open to the public as well. Record demand for the ant group, that will reportedly stop taking investor orders for the hong kong leg of the initial Public Offering a day early. The Chinese Financial Technology giant is carrying out a dual listing in hong kong and shanghai, set to raise 34. 5 billion, making it the biggest ipo of all time. Markets looking to rebound today. We have fractional gains yesterday after yesterdays selloff. Dow industrials are up 23, the nasdaq up 35. The number of coronavirus cases in the United States and europe causing concern over more lockdowns which could harm economies across the globe and that was behind yesterdays major selloff. Dow industrials down 650 points. That was two and a quarter percent. The nasdaq down 190. Joining me now is the cmc markets chief market analyst, michael hughton and michael can cantorw at thiitz. Also joining us this morning, Dagen Mcdowell and James Freeman. Thank you for being here. Michael, let me kick it off with you. What do think went on yesterday . Is it an indicator of whats to come. Theres two things investors look for, growth and visibility. Right now with stimulus efforts up in the air, the election a week away, covid cases rising globally, theres very little visibility and Big Questions about growth Going Forward. So i think theres a bit of uncertainty with the market having done so well over the last several months that investors are taking a breather and looking for some guidance. Maria so what do you want to do . What are you telling clients right now, michael . Do you want to take advantage of this weakness and buy into it or do you think this could be longlasting . We want to be taking advantage of strong fundamental companies that are showing some weakness for whatever reason here. We dont think its time to swing for the fences and try to find deep Value Companies that have lagged most of this recovery so far with the hope that everythings going to turn around on a dime. I think that investors are going to continue to have to wait for a broader based economy until we get a vaccine, which hopefully is sooner than later, but we dont think its coming up quite imminently, unfortunately. So investors should stick with good fundamentals and companies that have guidance and right now in earnings season, theres 140 companies that have already reported and Many Companies have Beat Estimates but theres still a lack of guidance for earnings right now and thats troubling. Maria thats a good point because these companies dont have the visibility as you said earlier. Michael, what about tensioner period . Its in the Earnings Period. Its in full swing. Merck, 3m, caterpillar, as soon as that hits the tape, well have the numbers. Eli lilly and pfizer also reporting this morning and microsoft will report after the bell. Your thought on the Earnings Period so far and where you are actually seeing growth,. Good morning, maria. I think theres a huge amount of anxiety at the moment. I think an awful lot of the easy money has been made. We saw big amounts of fiscal stimulus as a result of the q2 lockdowns. At the moment, i think while the numbers that were seeing out of Companies Like hsbc, the u. S. Banks are better than expected. I think what investors are looking for Going Forward is increasingly uncertain so i think its very difficult to identify where the Growth Opportunities are now. At a period, i think of increasing uncertainty, youve got the u. S. Elections next week, i think theres very little likelihood of further stimulus, fiscal stimulus, coming down the pike from politicians out of the u. S. I think were too far against the election for any stimulus plan to come out of the u. S. And european fiscal stimulus, european leaders have agreed to a package of 750 billion euros. That hasnt actually been ratified yet and its unlikely to be ratified much before the First Quarter of next year which means that the central banks, federal reserve, European Central bank, are going to continue to have to try and do some very heavy lifting between now and the First Quarter of next year and i think its important that investors do not rush back into the market at this point in time because i think were going to endure a significant amount of volatility as we head into yearend. So i would put an awful lot more money into cash and wait for opportunities to present themselves. Maria and michael ca youve bn looking at growth at a reasonable price. Where are you finding it . Well, thats really an idea to look within every sector. Its notice sectorspecific. But in general, sectors that are growing that are still somewhat reasonable, you can still find some value in the Consumer Discretionary sector, in the industrial sector, one of the themes we like here is playing this rateless recovery, a recovery in Economic Activity thats not seeing Interest Rates rise and its not something weve seen for a long time. So even the Consumer Discretionary sector, an area like housing and consumer durables, obviously we need jobs to come back but as long as Interest Rates stay low, we think that can continue to help support the consumer or at least not hurt the consumer as you typically get. Maria i think its a really good point because the consumer has held up really well but i was a little concerned by that decline in new home sales that we saw this week, down 3. 5 , and wondering if that changes the story. Were going to talk about that in the next hour in the word on wall street, its great to see you both gentlemen. Thank you so much. Thank you. Maria and your morning mover this morning is hsbc, shares of europes largest bank by assets soaring this morning after beating estimates overnight. The asian bank, hsbc, Hong Kong Bank is up this morning, 6 and twothirds percent, saying it will continue of to restructure and cut costs. It might start charging for accounts that are currently free to customers. Well keep watching hsbc, particularly as we go into that huge ant ipo which will talk about coming up in the show. Coming up, history in the making, judge Amy Coney Barrett officially becoming a Supreme Court justice, democrats and joe biden lashing out. The reaction, coming up. And later, fox news senior strategic analyst, retired general jack keane is here to talk about chinas retaliation against americas efforts to deepen security ties with taiwan which beijing claims is its territory. Next hour of, the hunter biden bombshell sparked a rush of early voters wanting to change their votes. Former white house chief strategist steve bannon is here. Plus, Herschel Walkers son, weighing in on the black and hispanic vote before election day. Plus, greg stubbe gives us a look ahead to the big tech hearing on capitol hill. Youre watching mornings with maria live on fox business. Make you come alive. I can take you higher. Nonvalvular afib can mean a lifetime of blood thinners. And if youre troubled by falls and bleeds, worry follows you everywhere. Over 100,000 people have left blood thinners behind with watchman. Its a onetime, minimally invasive procedure that reduces stroke risk and bleeding worryfor life. Watchman. Its one time. For a lifetime. And im still going for my best. Even though i live with a higher risk of stroke due to afib not caused by a heart valve problem. So if theres a better treatment than warfarin, im on top of that. Eliquis. Eliquis is proven to reduce stroke risk better than warfarin. Plus has significantly less major bleeding than warfarin. Eliquis is fdaapproved and has both. Whats next . Getting out there. Dont stop taking eliquis unless your doctor tells you to, as stopping increases your risk of having a stroke. Eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. Dont take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. While taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily and it may take longer than usual for any bleeding to stop. Seek immediate medical care for sudden signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Eliquis may increase your bleeding risk if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctor about all planned medical or dental procedures. Ask your doctor about eliquis. And if your ability to afford your medication has changed, we want to help. Maria welcome back. An historic evening last night, judge Amy Coney Barrett sworn in as the youngest Supreme Court justice at the white house in a ceremony last night following a successful 5248 senate vote. Joe biden has ruled out changing term limits meanwhile but says hell have a Commission Look at what changes could be made to the countrys heyest court. Take a listen highest court. Take a listen. There is a question about whether or not its a lifetime appointment. Im not going to attempt to change that at all. Theres some literature among constitutional scholars about the possibility of going from one court to another court, not saying the whole time in the Supreme Court. I have made no judgment, my word, my word is i made no judgment, theres a group of serious constitutional scholars have a number of ideas how we should proceed from this point on and thats what were going to be doing. Were going to give them 180 days, god willing, if im elected, from the time im sworn in, to be able to make such a recommendation. Maria joining me right now is former obama director of press advance and Global Situation room ceo, johanna mat matts mat. What do you think well hear from joe biden as relates to the court, the Supreme Court . Yeah, joe biden has a point, right. The republicans had eight months to hear the nomination of Merrick Garland under president obamas tenure and they refused. And now with eight days before the election, they pushed through a Supreme Court nominee and, you know, it really reeks of trying to steal political power and i dont think any american wants our justice to be political. We want justice for americans to be in the rights of the American People. And so because this reeks so much of political power, i think its high time that republicans and democrats who believe in justice for the American People come together and analyze how we can actually do Better Together for the American People. Maria yeah. I dont think it reeks of political power at all, actually. I think what would reek of political intervention would be if joe biden stacks the court with liberals. That would reek of politics for sure. Well, no, theyve actually they held the Supreme Court seat until they had power and then they packed the court as soon as they had power. So, i mean, Kamala Harris made the point maria they didnt pack the court. Thats incorrect. They didnt pack the court at all. I understand that the democrats are upset that this president will end up being one of the most consequential president s of our time because he was able to appoint three Supreme Court seats. I understand that. But thats not packing the court. That happens to be the fact that President Trump was in power it is, it is. Maria and available to expanding the court. Maria its not. They did not expand the court. There have been nine Supreme Court justices since 191880 1880. We still have nine since 1880. Youre talking about expanding the court. Maria liz, your reaction. Theyre not expanding the court. Theyre not expanding the court. They didnt pack the court, nor did they expand the court. Its been nine Supreme Court justices since 1880 and thats what it is today. Liz, jump in. They left it at eight for eight months. Following the constitution is not packing the Supreme Court. Youre absolutely right, maria. And it was a historymaking day yesterday, the first working mother to ever sit on the Supreme Court, someone who loves the constitution and loves the United States of america and what did Chuck Schumer say, it was one of americas darkest days. Thats how poisonous democrats have become with their politics and now you not only have the leader of the democrats in the senate and the house and the nominee for president on the democrat side all open to blowing up the Judicial Branch just because they didnt get their way, just because they lost elections and elections have consequences. Well, republicans follow through on the promises we make to the American People and we also follow the constitution. Thats why we filled that seat with the most qualified nominee weve seen in generations and we know justice Amy Coney Barrett is going to be a phenomenal justice, associate justice on the Supreme Court. Maria let me move on because there are moves in the swing states right now. Usa today poll averages shows President Trump has gained ground in nine out of the 12 swing states including a
