He said it was personally devastating for him to learn that trump is broadening and building this coalition because like a lot of times columnists, hes beenic instructingrible person if largely hispanic areas voted for trump . A new lawsuit in arizona alleges that voters were unable to have votes could wanted due to marking issues. The Court Complaint reads voter, quote, completed ballot with provided sharpy, while completing it she noticed ink was bleeding through and the ballot box failed to properly read and the plaintiff requested a new ballot but upon consultation with the Maricopa County reorders office the poll workers refused to provide her with one. Declaration from a poll worker backs up the claim saying ballots that were rejected by one machine were tried on the other tabulation machine and in different orientations always without success. For these reasons i believe that the issue was caused by the use of sharpies at the polling location. I would estimate that approximately 80 of voters of this polling location experienced the issue. Do you think this was coordinated . Look across the board here with all of the stories of ballots turning up, mysteriously in the dead of night in wisconsin, in michigan, the sharpy issue, President Trump leading in all of these states before those states said, well, we are going to shut down. What do you think is going on . First of all, in arizona it doesnt have to be coordinated. We just want somebodys right to vote vindicated. The chaos in suit with the sharpies, in arizona at least this is about right to the Arizona Democratic party with perkins, the hillary and the democrats lawyer have actually intervened in the case to try to stop voting, to try to stop our client from having right to vote. We always thought it was right to vote. In Arizona Democrats dont want the right to vote vindicated. The mail ballot chaos implemented in 2020 was going to happen this way. Here is my take, every legal vote should be counted and if there is an issue with the ballot irregularity there should be evidence and evidence should be taken to a judge immediately, so it can be ruled upon and we can get back to counting the ballots because the American People are waiting on democracy to take its course and thats what we are seeing happen. In pennsylvania yesterday the Trump Campaign filed a lawsuit because they wanted more monitors in the polling place. A judge ruled on that and after that the rules were amended. 20foot gap and it was reduced to 60 because of covid guideline and this is how the democratic process works. Its when our system works the best actually. When theres disputes you go to a judge and you bring evidence and the judge rules and the voting is allowed to continue. I would urge the Trump Campaign if they have any discrepancies, take it to a judge and let a judge rule. If a judge rules against you, thats what it is. The votes have to continue being counted and thats really important. Maria i agree. Jonathan, we all agree. We want democracy to work and we want to see the evidence that the judge can take it from here. This is what the Trump Administration is doing right now, jonathan. Whats your take on this . Democratic flops in the state given what we saw, al sharpton admitting that trump did well with hispanic and black voters and appealed to minorities and that also shows that they were walking away from the democrats, your reaction . Well, i think its too early to tell whether or not minorities walked away from democrats. I think whats really important here more than ever to who is the president of the United States, two, for us to see house races and house races can sometimes takes weeks and weeks like on 2018 and the most important thing is making sure that we count every vote, a lot of votes left, in philadelphia thats left to be counted, and i think its important to wait to be counted and then we can begin to sort of play what we do which is monday morning or Tuesday Morning quarterback which it means for the entirety of our government. Right now im concentrating on ensuring that we count every vote. Last overnight we saw joe biden take the lead in georgia. I think the lead will continue to grow as more africanamerican votes are counted in atlanta and suburbs, in pennsylvania most africanamerican votes counted in philadelphia and pittsburgh. Onto arizona, a state fox news called for biden, biden is up a point andahalf there. And in pennsylvania, President Trump leads by less than half a point. President trump accused democrats of trying to steal the election. If you count the legal votes, i easily win. If you count the illegal votes, they can try to steal the election from us. Maria meanwhile, a confident joe biden is urging patience and calm. Democracy sometimes is messy, it sometimes requires a little patience as well. The lawsuit in nevada alleges thousands of illegal votes coming from people who are not legal residents of the state or have died. Economists predict 600,000 jobs added to the economy last month with the Unemployment Rate ticking down for a sixth month in a row to 7. 7 . What do you think this jobs report means for markets . Good morning, maria. Its very important but i think you have to step back and look at the big picture. The pandemic shut down the u. S. Economy and since then every single month weve recovered. So whether we recover a little bit faster or a little bit slower, last month i dont think is the most important thing. I think the point is we are seeing a big recovery. Were seeing earnings coming out on s p 500 companies that are better than anyone expected. So weve dealt with this. Weve aside from the obvious loss of life thats been horrible but we got hit with this pandemic, we had to deal with it. We dealt with it the best we could. As long as we dont shut down the economy, which i dont see a reason to do it, cases are up but deaths and hospitalizations arent. As long as we can continue this recovery were going to be in great position for 2021. Maria mike, you were among the first to come on this program and make a bet on uber. We got good news on uber and lyft this week. Whats your take on growth and where youre finding it . I know you like uber a lot. Yeah. So big tech is still a place where youre seeing a lot of growth, maria. When you look at uber specifically, even though it had a massive rally here, earnings came out yesterday and they got hit hard, similar to the u. S. Economy, a proxy for the economy. They also have the uber freight business. I just think uber to me is very similar to facebook. But we think there will be a lot of litigation because we cant have an election stolen like this. Maria joining me right now is trump 2020 Campaign Senior advisor, Cory Lewandowski. Thanks very much for joining us this morning. You are currently in pennsylvania. The Campaign Recently won an Appellate Court ruling to allow party and Campaign Workers to be closer to workers that are processing the mailin ballots. Can you tell us what youve seen . Thank you for having me. Look, we were handed a court order yesterday morning about 9 00 a. M. That went into effect at 10 30 in the morning. It said that every person who was a duly authorized representative of the campaign had the courts permission to be within six feet of the counting which was going on to observe every aspect of the counting in philadelphia. Pam bondi and i went to the Convention Center, presented the court order of to Election Officials, the office of Emergency Management and the Senior Police officers on duty and they summarily dismissed it, said they werent going to enforce the court order. We contacted the county sheriff, asked him to respond. They wouldnt send a Police Officer down to have a conversation with us and so what happened while they were delaying this, they continued to count votes in the Convention Center with nobody being able to witness what was transpiring and then the city and the state Democratic Party immediately filed an you appeal with the state Supreme Court which stayed the Appellate Court order. As we sit here today, we have no access to see whats transpiring. All were asking for is to witness, watch what theyre doing in that room. They kept us out of that a room and those few individuals who had the opportunity to get in the room were no closer than 10s transpiring. Maria whats the reason they wont allow you to watch whats going on, particularly in the face of all of these stories of tens of thousands of ballots showing up in the dead of night. They have no explanation. Obviously, the city of philadelphia has a different way of doing things. I have never in 25 years in politics or as a former Law Enforcement officer had a Police Officer or a Government Official tell me that they just summarily dismiss a duly authorized court order. They werent going to follow the rule and what they told us and the Election Officials told us, feel free to go back to the judge and hold us in contempt. Were not going to give you access to the room. Thats whats transpiring here. If there is nothing to hide, why would they not want to have people in that room to witness it . Both republicans and democrats. What we know is that theyre counting all through the night. They have purchased via Mark Zuckerberg some additional counting machines. They had a grant for it that allows them to count the ballots faster. We know that there is discrepancies here. We dont have the ability to review whats transpiring let alone file grievances or complaints. Maria so cory, walk us through what happened. I want to get your take on censoring the president in a moment but first, walk us through what you believe has occurred here. Because there are stories of 65,000 ballots showing up in the dead of night in wisconsin, 138,000 ballots showing up in the dead of night in michigan, almost all of them, 100 of them voting for biden which statistically just isnt possible. But is that what youve seen . What evidence have you seen to indicate that you need to push back and file these suits . Well, maria, look, its about the integrity of our election system, its not just about donald trump which as you know im an arrest dent trump supporter. If they can do this to donald trump, they can do it to anybody. What theyre doing across the country, including in maine which they found a memory stick with votes for joe biden in maine which wasnt available on Election Night. We should be concerned about the integrity of our process. We need to make sure its one person, one vote. If youre a citizen of that state, then youre allowed to vote but there has to be a process that is followed and weve talked about this internally at the campaign. If you were an election observer in a third world country in africa we would have had more ability to review whats happening in some of those rooms in africa than weve had here in the United States of america. Its very hard for people to believe whats really happening and, look, im not a conspiracy theorist but ive never seen anything where every vote that is found late or every one that is found after the deadline has passed have all been for joe biden. Thats not a coincidence, maria. I dont want to make accusations i cant back up but it should gravely concern the American People. Maria so will you have evidence of wrongdoing to present of to the American People . Youve got that side of the story. Then theres the censoring of the president. Four Major News Networks cut away from the president s statement on the election and pending results last night. Fox news and cnn the only stations airing the full speech. We know whats going on with social media. Twitter is constantly flagging the president s tweets right now. Did so again yesterday and overnight. How does this play out . Tell us what your reaction is to the media censoring the president and secondly, how does this play out in the courts . Walk us through what will take place in the coming weeks. Well, sure. First and foremost, we know that most of the members of the Mainstream Media once again called the election absolutely wrong. Abc nice said a week before the election says donald trump was going to lose wisconsin by 17 points. Their polling data was wrong. We believe part of that was the suppression of Republican Voters trying to convince the American People that donald trump was going to lose in a landslide which of course he did not do and has not done. And so were not surprised by what the Mainstream Media has done. They have become the super pac of the Democratic Party and theyve done a very good job of destroying the president and potentially destroying our country. In addition to that, we have seen what the big tech firms are doing, the Silicon Valley companies that decide to use their power to influence the outcome of elections. As soon as there was a potential of looking at section 230 of the government code which gives them protection, they pushed back and said well be better. Yesterday once again they flagged the president s tweets. Hes the leader of the free world, the commander in chief of the u. S. Military and some private company is determining what he can and cant say in public. What happened to free speech . Maria real quick on the courts. As the nation watches the president ial race unfold in georgia, the peach state also has a pivotal race that could tip the balance of power in the senate. Were taking a look at that with the senate race between democrat Raphael Warknock and republican senator kelly loeffler, its headed to a runoff in january. The other race between john o soff and david perdue could result in a runoff there. In georgia, if no candidate gets 50 of the vote, the top two vote getters face off in a runoff. Dagen, your take on this. Dagen the balance of power in the senate hinges on these races, particularly if they go to runoffs in january. The democrats have added one net senate seat with the victory of mark kelly in arizona and John Hickenlooper in colorado. So i think that the stock market more than anything will hinge and trade in a great way off of what goes on in the senate because this the republicans maintaining control of the senate and the democrats only need to add three net seats in the senate if joe biden does become the president , four if donald trump remains the president of the United States. But this is tax cuts going away, this is greater regulation if the democrats take control of the senate. Maria yeah. So much is just holding on this. James, are you surprised that the entire balance of the senate could come down to just one state . James yeah, we thought this might be a close election, or some of us did. I think you would probably expect a close republican win in both of those races, but enormous amounts of money are going to be spent in georgia over the next several weeks. Well, here we are. This is deciding the senate and you were talking i think earlier in the week about the 100 million that Michael Bloomberg set on fire in various states where democrats had disappointing finishes. Maybe he and others step up again and write enormous checks to try and sway the outcome in georgia. So i would expect this is going to be the most expensive perhaps two most Expensive Senate campaigns weve seen in a while. Maria wow. Yeah. Brian, your reaction . Brian well, as the wall street journal pointed out, Money Matters but it cant decide an election. I agree with james theres going to be a lot spent if we get special elections, but i think republicans walk out of this with a lot more energy than democrats are walking out of this election and thats going to matter in terms of the context of a january 5th. If we get two runoffs, i would expect Republican Voters in georgia to be very motivated even if theyre at a money disadvantage, i think that still puts them over the edge in terms of where this thing could come out. As dagen says it matters greatly for the markets, this is whats propping up markets right now. Dagen maybe amy schumer and Alyssa Milano and cher could weigh in on what they think should be the senator in georgia because that always helps so much. Futures are in the red this morning weve got selling underway. Dow industrials down 179, nasdaq down 128, s p weaker by 29. This after the markets saw an election week of green. It was the best week since april. Dow industrials yesterday up 542 points, nasdaq up 300 points and the s p up 67 on the week, the dow and the s p both up 7 , the nasdaq up 9 on the week so far. Check european markets this morning after the u. K. Went into another lockdown yesterday. Due to the rise in the number of covid cases. The ft100 is down 14 andahalf. France is imposing stricter rules as well. The cac is down 47 points, the dax lower by 145. In asia overnight markets mostly higher, fractional moves pretty much across the board. The weak spot here overnight in asia was the shanghai composite in china. Pennsylvania remains one of the battleground states where votes are still being counted this morning as the Trump Campaign is filing new lawsuits amid stories of voter fraud. Grady trembel has the latest. Reporter philadelphias mailin ballots are being counted in the pennsylvania Convention Center behind me. We have a live look inside where counting has been going on 24 7. The president s lead here is dwindling to just about 18,000 votes with some 163,000 mailin votes across the state left totally. And new this morning, Philadelphia Police reportedly thwarted a potential attack on this Convention Center. Police took two armed men into custody nearby. They say the men drove into the city from outofstate in a hummer. They didnt say what their intentions were. But now the fbi is investigating. Meanwhile, as you mentioned, the Trump Campaign has filed a slew of lawsuits over the election here in what the rnc calls a win for the Trump Campaign, a judge ruled certain ballots lacking voter id info must be separated from others. In another case, the Court Ordered gop poll watchers in philadelphia should be allowed closer to the vote count. The Trump Campaign alleges the city did not allow that to happen and the city is challenging the order. Theyre actually appealing, which is sort of interesting. I wonder why that appeal, that all we want to do is have people watch as they do the vote tabulations. Reporter and 1700 ballots were found at usps processing facilities in three parts of the state. Here in philadelphia, in pittsburgh and in lehigh. The vote count continues today as i mentioned, more than 150 of thousand mailin ballots left to count. Yesterday the secretary of state indicated they could wrap up counting yesterday, that of course has not happened. Now its looking like it could happen today. We will see what happens in this tightening race. Maria. Maria unbelievable. Grady, thank you so much. Joining me right now is former wisconsin governor and Young Americans foundation ceo, scott walker. And former pennsylvania governor and former dnc chairman, ed rendell. Great to see you gentlemen this morning. Thank you so much for joining us. Governor rendell, let me kick it off with you, coming off of philadelphia with that story. Whats your take on whats going on here with the question of additional ballots showing up. Well, those are the additional ballots that were allowed by the pennsylvania Supreme Court to come in three days after the election. The statute says they have to be in by the election day. But the court expanded it for three days. Thats only going to be a couple of thousand votes, maria. Its not going to be important. It will be mooted afterwards. Joe biden will win by the time the vote is over by 50, 60, maybe 70,000 votes. There is nothing surprising about what happened in philadelphia. No fraud. Understand this. The reason were counting so late is because the republicans in the legislature turned down a request by the governor to allow counting to begin three days before the election. Thats done in most states that have mail ballots like florida and North Carolina. They counted their mail ballots thats came in so the first election returns there were from the mail ballots. Thats number one. Number two, donald trump republicans took him at his word so the number of people who requested mail ballots in pennsylvania, you have to request, were 71 democrat, 23 republican and the rest independent. The vote tally is 75 democrat which takes into account the independent voters. About 20 republican. So it tracked the actual requests of people who asked for mail ballots. Theres nothing surprising about the margin. And understand, even in red counties, donald trump won. Let me finish. By big margins. The mail vote has been tilted towards the democrats. So the mail vote is following registration of the people who asked for mail ballots. And let me say one last thing. Lindsey graham should be ashamed of himself, attacking philadelphia. Ive run in 11 elections. I beat my opponents in philadelphia by bigger margins than joe biden is going to beat President Trump and not one of my republican opponents said anything about an unfair vote or scandals and explain to your viewers that this lawsuit is about how close observers maria ed, there are a lot of stories. Theres too many stories to feel comfortable about all of this. You have to agree with that. Theres so many stories of ballots coming up in the middle of the night. Its not just pennsylvania. Scott walker. We saw tens of thousands of ballots show up in the middle of the night in wisconsin, we saw the same thing in michigan. So i guess the question becomes how do people truly trust that this election is fair and honest with all of these situations and questions about ballots and then theres the sharpie and then theres these states that decided to close down in the middle of the counting. Your reaction, scott walker . Right. Ive said all long its going to be extremely close, probably boil down to pennsylvania, michigan or wisconsin. Here we sit. Obviously the votes are tightening up in georgia and arizona. I still think theres a path for the president. The most important thing, you talk about philadelphia, detroit, wisconsin. We have to have tran transparen. There has to be a legitimate election no matter who wins. I still think the president has a pathway to winning. There has to be a legitimate, transparent election. Were not seeing people coming in from both parties to observe whats happening at these election sites. Weve seen it in philadelphia and detroit. Those are big concerns, particularly when theres shifts in the voting. There may be reasons as ed talked about that may or may not be the case for that. I do think its a big win in pennsylvania with the court order to set ballots aside that were questionable in terms of proper identification. Thats something oftentimes when you have questions coming up, its almost impossible to do anything to resolve the issue after the fact. These ballots being set aside is incredibly important. In wisconsin, there is a canvas that goes on for 14 days after the election, the local level and then the statewide canvas isnt completed until december 1st. So if there are legitimate challenges there in terms of the tabulation or errors in the process, thats the time in which that will be cleared out even before a recount may or may not occur. Maria. Maria, i agree with gr walker. Maria go ahead. I agree with Governor Walker on the fact that we should wait until all the votes are counted, no question about that. I want to say youre incorrect about saying there werent republican observers in philadelphia. There were republican observers, democrat observers. You could see on maria we just heard from Cory Lewandowski. Governor, we heard from Cory Lewandowski. He said they would not allow them in the building and anybody who got in were behind gates. Cory lieu jua lewandowski was je show. There were republican and democrat observers were in there. Maria Cory Lewandowski wanted to get in and they told him no. Why cant republican observers be in there . Bas because theyre doing business. Theyre counting votes. These people first of all, the president and Lindsey Graham demeaned hundreds of legitimately citizens, most of whom are volunteers, who give themselves to the system. There were republicans in there democrats. Maria they want confirmation on that. Theyre not being let in. Cory lewandowski was just on the show. He said he was told he was not allowed in. He wasnt allowed in but there were people who filed to be observers prior to the election who were allowed in. In fact, one of the suits that donald trump talked about winning was that the republican observers could get closer to the machines themselves. Maria this is one sides word against the other. This is one sides word against the other. Cory lewandowski was just on the show saying the exact opposite. Governor, let me get your take on this. Theres an oped in the journal by similar bery kimberly strass. She writes how nancy pelosi and Chuck Schumer lost tuesday night. Writing this in two years they passed one bill of consequence. Mr. Donald trumps u. S. , canada, trade agreement. They ran investigations into unfounded claims of russia, collusion, they refused to negotiate on further virus spending, infrastructure, immigration, solely to deny mr. Trump of any accomplishments. Based on what happened in the house, woul wouldnt you say ths a repudiation from the American People of the progressive aggressive policies like Big Government programs and high taxes . Let me just absolutely. Correct the oped piece because its very, very important. Maria we only have a couple of seconds. Go ahead, ed rendell. 73 bills including bills on infrastructure, things like that, that they sent to Mitch Mcconnell and he never allowed a vote on any of them. So blame Mitch Mcconnell for not getting maria thaw because they we impeaching trump. I dont think you could argue that the first three years of the president s term was just all about investigations, russia collusion that was made up, and impeachment trial. This is what they spent much of their time on. Bills on things like infrastructure, on voting rights, and Mitch Mcconnell never let one vote be cast on any of these bills themselves. So look, was it a defeat for the democrats in the house and the senate . Yes, apparently so. But its not because the house didnt try to pass legislation that affected americans. And you can look at maria scott walker, a couple seconds left. Go ahead. Right now, joe biden has 264 electoral votes, not counting of course the lawsuits underway. President trump has 214. Biden gaining a lead over President Trump in georgia early this morning. Let me start on the economy, jerry, what does the impact of this election have on the economy, what kind of an impact would you expect . There may be a lot to worry about this morning but im not worried about that right now. Look how we came into this. We have september retail sales. They were up over 5 versus a year ago september, prepandemic. If you just take core retail, that was total retail, it was up 8 versus a year ago. Thats incredible. What do we know about october . We know in october that costco just reported a 14 same store sales increase, 16 when you take out gas, with amazon prime day, october was fantastic. Before this election, i was out there a little bit. I was forecasting a huge Holiday Season with an increase of as much as 4 to 5 . Theres probably some uncertainty right now, people are watching the tv. Theyre going to get tired of that. I might lower that a little to 3 to 4 instead of 4 to 5 increase. But the economy came into this fundamentally strong. The v was definitely there. I think its going to be there. Most people love the fact that theres likely to be a split government. I think were in a good place, may not be ideal. No one wants to watch this anymore. I think people are tired of it. But i think theyre going to go out and go shopping for christmas. Maria yeah. I mean, i think you make a great point because the consumer has been so strong, despite this lockdown, andy. Were seeing very good numbers going into the Holiday Season. Even though the Consumer Needs a stimulus which has been lacking in washington. Whats your reaction as we await the october jobs report due out in about 40 minutes . I think well have a very good jobs number. If you look at the total number of people receiving Unemployment Insurance over the past month its down about 4 Million People or about 15 . So weve had a lot of people come off the roles and i think thats always a good sign for employment numbers. I think the economys doing well at the moment. I worry about i dont worry about the stock market as dagen said, if republicans keep control of the senate, i think the stock market will be fine. I do worry about businesses creating jobs, business thats are worried about their taxes going up, that are worried about increased regulations, they may enjoy the retail sales increase but theyre not going to be growing because theyre fearful of what the governments going to do. Its what happened during the entire obama biden administration, its what trump put an end to. I would hate to see the job growth slow or discontinue once this elections over. So well have to wait and see on that score. Maria of course, we also have the covid disaster hanging over us, a grim milestone to report there as well. The u. S. Setting a new covid daily case record, more than 121,000 infections reported thursday, thats the second straight day of numbers hitting an alltime high, cases up word worldwide, causes lockdowns in france, germany, england. Whats your take on that heading into the Holiday Season. Can the u. S. Handle another lockdown . I dont think were going to get a lockdown. I believe that people are tired of that. Were going to have targeted measures, increases in some areas more than others. I think actually people are pretty smart. You know, numbers are hard to deal with. 100,000, thats a lot of people. Thats not good news. That sounds like a big number. Theres 330 Million People in the u. S. 100,000 is three one hundredths of 1 . Of those, 99 are going to be fine. The consumers know that. Theyre acting like that. They learned to live with it for better or worse. Maria weve got to learn to live with it and adapt. Well, you know, overall numbers, 600,000 would show that the job market is slowing after a big bounce earlier, this year. The the other thing i am looking at is how many people have been unemployed 27 weeks or longer. And what that would tell me that number was 2. 4 million, in in the last report if that number is growing, it tells me that weve moved into a new phase, of this whatever you want to call it economic recovery, where we have more longterm unemployed whole process is slowing down from the big bounce we had earlier this year. Watch long term unemployment carefully this time lisa how do you see it . A i would agree with jon a matter of what is incoming and outgoing so on front end obviously, we want to continue to see gains, into employment, but on the back end really that longterm joblessness is our main concern, and in addition to some of the metrics that jon mentioned one of the other things we would like to see a steady state on Participation Rate again gives more assurance staying in workforce continuing to look for employment. Maria yeah a good point the consumer has held up well joanie, of course, we know that the jobs are largely, stayathome, where do you see jobs quick a couple seconds here. Yes sure 6. 5 million open jobs, job options in the United States right now, now construction has over 300,000, being factory over 400,000 over a million openings professional Business Services over a million openings in health care, so the jobs are out there, and they are not just stayathome jobs. Reporter top line 638,000 jobs added to the economy, in october, the Unemployment Rate, i declined 6. 9 below estimates from experts some inside some numbers here you can see unemployment Leisure Hospitality increase 271 games food drink places 192,000 progressively Business Services added 208,000 jobs, here in october, retail trade, adding 104,000 jobs ro, almost a third of those gains, in M Electronics Appliances Stores construction added 84,000 jobs in october, the specialty trade contractor jobs both nonresidential and residential adding 28,000 in nonresidential, 18,000 in residential, health care and social assistance rose 7 ,000 jobs in october down 950,000 jobs since february a lot not making that levels they have in february, manufacturing, employment rows by 38,000 jobs, no october, but 621,000 lower than february, the gains occurred mainly in fabricated metal products, so, you see the top line number again, 638,000 jobs kro, created, Unemployment Rate 6. 9 some good some bad in this report back to you. Maria so it is really more of a mixed story, markets are not reacting youve got fractionally better number on overall jobs line, but certainly weak spots in there dagen how do you read this. Dagen i think this is as expected, but this is a job market that is now, losing steam, at least in job creation. I want to know, after we look at it why the Unemployment Rate fell to 6. deserves digging private payrolls way above expectations that is incredibly positive sign, coming in 906,000ing private payrolls created, versus expectation of 690, so there is good news in here but we have a long way to go, and to Charles Paynes point this economy the people who are unemployed, specifically for a long periods of time they do need more assistance, congress should get on it. Yeah, i am really focused on that headline unemployment number down to 6. 9 first thing i always do is go to Participation Rate, to figure out if that is part of the story built Participation Rate actually went up, in this report, so it is kind of fascinating actually this looks better than i think a lot of people were expecting headline number above expectations Unemployment Rate drops more, i agree with jon that longterm unemployment number still doesnt look good emphasizes how important it is to get people back to work, proper some assistance in short term but long term you got to get people back to work it is folks ebbs who cant work from overwhelm who are stuck in that number in thaub is still growing overly this looks pretty good, the expectation. You know it is interesting, because i do work for one of the Largest Temporary Staffing Companies in the country, we are seeing very Strong Demand, in fact our business has been growing, even on a yearoveryear basis for the last few weeks. The division that i run certainly doubledigit growth on yearoveryear basis. So, we see a very Strong Demand, and looking at this report only that the temporary added over 100,000 jobs, so even though the Employment Situation report is they always say a lagging indicator, the temporary sector is a leading indicator this is a very good sign, this shows us, that employers are adding to payrolls they are adding in many sectors across the board, it is not just warehouse manufacturing we are seeing in progressively Business Service sector in Health Care Sector we are also seeing wages move in the right direction. So i feel very, very positive about this report. I think it continues to show we are moving in the right direction not that at full recovery, we still have more work to do. We as a nation have recovered 54. 5 of the jobs lost just in the month of march and april it was job losses of 22. 12 million we recovered, nearly 55 of those jobs. In terms of stimulus, one thing that i will bring up, is last month, government payrolls declined 268,000 jobs, so that in in stimulus terms, that reignites certainly, whether you are going to have bailouts for the blue states. Nancy pelosi that is one of the reasons we didnt get that giant stimulus package, is because the republicans were not going o to step up, up and bailout states who are bad at math. That being said, this is a certainly heading the right direction, and i just want to push back on steve moores point he said that if this report had come out before election President Trump would have won, steve, president there always led over joe biden in terms of his handling of the economy, he was never able to sell that week after week month after month i dont know if one report really changed his ability to sell his plan and his work that he did on the economy. Well 2 administration would say numbers in terms of where we are not right nay they are suing he several states in terms of ballot if you had a so i dont think that they would actually agree with you, steve, but he lost. Well, look, there is no question about it that last 10 days before election, was, there was a huge shift, towards towards trump, what happened in my opinion was we had really, really great the greatest gdp number in the history of the country people can feel it on the street, you know, maria, i traveled, used to be three months ago drive on streets nobody around now seeing traffic problems in some areas getting back to normal the life that is what they want the economy is recovering, by the way, you go weve had two experiments now we have the experiment under obamabiden with stimulus it was a a complaet failure even by obamabiden numbers created fewer jobs than we could, trump is basically said look we are going to do what james talked about reopen economy get businesses back up on feet, going to incentive them if we had done a payroll tax cut like he wanted i think would actually have a couple million additional jobs right now i think stimulus is a proven failure, we dont need more Government Spending we just needt to let businesses open up. Dagen to be clear i did not mean to suggest this race has been called i was saying steve was saying president would have run away with it i just pushed back on his lack of ability to sell his message on the economy. Even a month ago. I think most would agree, we need to open the economy, i mean james that is the point you were take making in terms of expecting even more job creation, once things get back to normal we are going to have to live with this. That is right, i think he the last several months one takeaway is really the resilience of u. S. Economy obviously, unprecedented. This this experiment misguided experiment i would say i think data bears that out, but a lot of politicians fascinate and local government thinking that the way to fight it, virus learning about set fire to the economy i think given all those shutdowns, the bounceback has been remarkable, and it is ready to go much harder i think that is lesson of the numbers. Maria lets take a look at market for a second we are coming all the way back, this market is responding positive to this jobs report, we were down almost 200 points earlier look at dow industrials now down 28 points, it has been an incredible strong up 7 dow 1350e7 into going into this number nasdaq up 9 , Lisa Ericsson, one thing we have been looking at the consumer, another thing is manufacturing, the purchasing managers indices life as well nancy lazar talking about that a lot at corn coerstone macro what are numbers to confirm recovery spot right now is to to your anoint nice normalization on the economy, with again, some concerns more recently because of flattening trends some indicators. So really as we go forward, you know we really do believe this jobs picture is a key one. And i think if you go back to the report today, it really was a solid report i think we all knew coming in that we werent expecting big gains if anything, there was a risk to the downside given some of the more rent numbers with claims and the difficulty adp report this unique in sum we really got a picture that while the gains are slowing, we still have been able to make to some nice progress and not drop off too much from from prior months, in that Unemployment Rate again, and the Participation Holding steady very encouraging, so i think overall you know if way we look at it for the market is, you know, these jobs figures really help us retain that, are you on market, and then we continue to see, as some higher frequency data indicators come in how things continue to evolve. Maria so what would you expect lisa then for year end, i know the holidays are a big catalyst for economic activity, going into certainly christmas, the time after thanksgiving, are there catalysts you look to aside from that that could fire up any particular area of this economy . So, you know, overall as far as dayslifts for the catalysts we are looking for we see the main thing is again, per what weve all been discussing really progress on coronavirus and ability for the economy to resume more normalization of activities. So that really in addition to, you know, looking at how the consumer and jobs are behaving, are really what we see as keys Going Forward i think a longer term concern is even if we get normalization in terms of economic activity, how much is underlying Consumer Behavior change because we know that there has been increase in savings levels, a little bit more cautiousness over spending overall again just looking for that ability for the jobs and the ability to renormalize some activity on the back of this coronavirus progress. To yeah, a lot of big takeaways again i just want to go back to the big picture this is a really solid jobs report, at this stage, given all at the headwind, it really highlights just how much that Senate Election matters. We have the choice of either staying on a policy path of tax policy stable regulatory policy or abandon that if we abandon that you might say you want numbers broert but 630,000 to is pretty good better if we jack up tags regulation that is going down each further so i think this really highlights just how much is going on in georgia right now, really matters, and will matter in january. You know bhefr one or two special elections take place, that is going to be decisive jon to con contingentent where economy goes people talking about Winter Weather Going Forward Restaurant Industry comes to mind only are able to operate at 25 capacity, inside. Yeah, maria. I think you know, there is so much debate about covid and how it was handled by states, whether we should favor economy or cracking down on covid i think history has demonstrated in u. And elsewhere, that if we really want to get the economy back to normal, we need to find some middle ground where we are getting covid under control, so that people feel more comfortable going back to normal. You know. People are in arent going back on flights not going back in restaurants, are , even in places where restrictions have cut down so, you know, we talk about it all the time. Things like Wearing Masks are really important because it is not economically costly but a way to control the virus we need to find that kind of middle ground to get economy back goingi the way i think everybody here in this conversation agrees we want it to get going. You know, there might be a more intermediate term opportunity for some of the industrials if we continue to see a quicker pickup to economic normalization and progress on, for example, a vaccine but really, we see right now the best bets, again, some of the favorites that have already been there simply because they have such a strong underpinning to their growth story. Maria joanie, you agree with that . I do, maria. I also think we will see some of the strongest growth in trade and transportation. The Retail Sector is certainly coming back. Health care is going to be strong. Really, when you look at this, theres so many great Economic Indicators that are pointing in the right direction. My only concern is that employers will slow down with uncertainty. So regardless of whos in the white house, if this takes a long time to play out, there will be a tremendous amount of uncertainty. We know the markets dont like uncertainty. I can tell you employers dont like uncertainty. And they wont invest. Right now, corporations, they have strong earnings, they are ready to invest, they are ready to hire, the demand is strong. But we need to get rid of the uncertainty to keep this economy going.
