Plans to distribute more than $1 trillion in federal economic relief for communities and counties across the United States and New Mexico continue, according to the Southeast New Mexico Economic Development District Council of Governments (SNMEDD COG). An economic recovery team organized by SNMEDD met April 8 and learned about the American Rescue Plan Act (ARP) of 2021 and how the legislation signed in March by President Joe Biden would provide economic relief for entities impacted by COVID-19, read an SNMEDD news release. Some of the items in the $1.9 trillion relief package included funds to taxpayers, extending unemployment and benefits through early September and provides $350 billion for state and local governments, according to the release.
