SEVIERVILLE â The new FedEx Ground distribution facility on Interstate 40 is rapidly taking shape, although it will be a few months before they start hiring. The new facility in the Interstate 40 Industrial Park was officially announced last August, and they are hoping to have it open this coming August, Sevier County Economic Development Council Executive Director Allen Newton said. âThey are flying out there in that building,â Newton said. The facility will serve a local delivery area of Sevier and 10 other East Tennessee counties. FedEx has indicated it will process 12,300 packages an hour. Progress on the site is visible from the road, and Newton said theyâre set to start paving the entrance soon.
