In 2019, the federal government promised to introduce legislation to facilitate a “just transition” away from fossil fuels, but has yet to do so. With the Liberals’ 2021 budget expected later this month, CCPA senior researcher and report co-author Hadrian Mertins-Kirkwood says Ottawa needs to commit to supporting affected workers and communities.
