Feds must help workers affected by fossil-fuel phaseout: report

Ottawa must introduce legislation to help oil and gas workers while the country transitions away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy, says a new report from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA).
In 2019, the federal government promised to introduce legislation to facilitate a “just transition” away from fossil fuels, but has yet to do so. 
With the Liberals’ 2021 budget expected later this month, CCPA senior researcher and report co-author Hadrian Mertins-Kirkwood says Ottawa needs to commit to supporting affected workers and communities. ....
