US DHHS rescinding fees charged to distilleries for making hand sanitizer during pandemic
Distilleries across New Hampshire and the country that switched gears during the pandemic to make hand sanitizer were hit with thousands of dollars in fees by the Food and Drug Administration, but now, the government says that was a mistake.
The owners of Fabrizia Spirits never expected to go from making limoncello to manufacturing hand sanitizer, but the family-owned business in Salem answered the call during the pandemic.
“For us, that was now, ‘We have a purpose. Let's make it. Let's donate it to first responders,’ which is what we did at Fabrizia Spirits,” Philip Mastroianni, Fabrizia Spitis co-owner, said.
