Like hunger relief programs all over Wisconsin, the food pantry at Green Bay First church has seen a major increase in the number of families needing help during the pandemic. The pantry at 1460 Shawano Ave. is seeing 200 to 250 cars a week at its drive-thru pantry, up from 50 families pre-pandemic. Green Bay First is meeting a community need in a way that wouldn't be possible without the help of Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin. Jill Greenwood, director of the pantry at Green Bay First, estimates about 90% of its food comes from Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, a nonprofit that relies on financial donations to stock local pantries and combat hunger and poor nutrition.
