FEMA support for Hynes Convention Center mass vaccination site ends Operations will continue into June Share Updated: 12:05 PM EDT May 24, 2021 The mass COVID-19 vaccination site inside the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts TRACKING THE COVID-19 VACCINE Operations will continue into June Share Updated: 12:05 PM EDT May 24, 2021 Federal support for a COVID-19 mass vaccination site in Boston officially ended this weekend, but officials say the site will finish administering second doses before closing completely.The Federal Emergency Management Agency began supporting the vaccination effort at the Hynes Convention Center on March 31. In addition to personnel and logistical support, the feds also allocated an additional 6,000 doses per day to the site. More than 310,000 doses were administered at the Hynes since March 31. Gov. Charlie Baker was vaccinated there and the site was visited in March by the leaders of FEMA and the CDC. The Hynes was also a base for mobile clinics that brought vaccines into several disproportionately impacted communities. The clinic at the Hynes is one of several mass vaccination sites that are preparing to close as the state shifts its focus toward delivering the vaccine on a smaller, local scale. CIC Health will continue to operate the Hynes to deliver second doses to remaining patients, state officials said. The site is expected to close during the month of June.
