After they decided to get sober, giving back to the non-drinking community they became part of was always part of the plan. David Payne, 35, of Canal Winchester, and Colin Thomas, 36, of Delaware, were raised in central Ohio. One stayed, one left to join the U.S. Army. What remained: The bond between the two that began when they were growing up in Worthington and met in middle school. For both friends, that bond continued through their struggle with alcoholism. And for both, that period ended in 2013. For those who have embraced sobriety, finding a social space without alcohol can be difficult. So Payne and Thomas decided to do something about it.
