"It's usually a very big event when we open a lake," said Jerry Brown, assistant Fisheries chief of staff for the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. "The fish have not been caught before, so they'll hit almost anything you throw. "We usually get a big crowd when we open the lakes. Catch rates are usually very high."
