Production of Ford's most exciting new product in years is coming to a brief halt.
The global chip shortage is wreaking havoc on production lines everywhere. Ford has already seen some of the worst of this, already having to slow production of its F-150, Escape, and Lincoln Corsair lines. Earlier this week, the Detroit Free Press revealed the shortage has also hit its most exciting new car in years, the upcoming Bronco.

The Bronco is produced at the Michigan assembly plant in Wayne, one of four production lines that will be shut down for the weeks of May 17 and May 24. While Ford is currently grappling with tough decisions about how to ration the few chips they have available to finish the projects they need, the Bronco appears to be significant a priority. The Free Press reports that the Bronco remains on track for its planned Summer debut.
