Fort Collins' finances are looking up, and if it stays that way, the city will be able to restore some of the COVID-19-related budget cuts that trimmed city expenses by about $15 million.
City Chief Financial Officer Travis Storin and Financial Planning and Analysis Director David Lenz shared a relatively rosy outlook with City Council at a Tuesday financial update, although they cautioned that some uncertainty persists and the city's recovery has been uneven.
“As we approach the end of this current council’s term, it’s safe to say that the financial state of the city is strong,” Storin said, “and that we are entering the budget cycle subsequent to the pandemic from a position of being nearly, or perhaps entirely, able to restore some of the cut budgets that were enacted last year as part of the immediate response to the pandemic.”
