Ready for a possible Ground Invasion in gaza. The United States grappling with new concerns of a widening war. Show you that on the map in a moment. Hope the weekend was good. Brandnew week begins now. Teams back together. Bill hemmer, good morning. Dana anxious to be here. I almost read good morning im bill hemmer. I am dana perino and its americas newsroom. Good to be here with you. Bill overnight israeli war planes bombed targets in Gaza Over Syria and west bank over the weekend. Dana it triggered the u. S. To ramp up military presence. New reports suggesting President Biden is urging israeli president netanyahu to slow down. Bill we kick it off now. Jack keane on the strategy. Rich edson we action to the pentagon. Lets start on the ground in southern israel with mike tobin as we begin a new week there. Mike, hello. Hello, bill. Today is Israeli Defense force did a screening of a lot of the hamas video. Some of them were gopros. Security video. Cell phones seized and audio that has been seized. They did it in a deliberate attempt to show Hamas Savage Re and combat the narrative you have seen with demonstrations and much of the media that israel is the aggressor. Now most of what we saw today we cant show you simply because it is too horrible. But i can tell you some of what we saw. Dash cam video of israelis ambushed in cars. A girl hiding under a desk. Discovered and executed. Israelis huddled in a safe room mass acted there. A father and two little boys who tried to seek shelter. Hamas attacker threw a grenade into the shelter. Father was killed. Two boys survived. One boy lost an eye. They screamed for their father and screamed for their mother. The attackers took selfese with a truck load of wounded hostages driving back to the gaza strip. One of the attackers called his parents and bragged that he had killed ten people and they should be proud because their son is a hero. Here is the idf spokesman. What the sporadic Freedom Fighters perceived themselves to the world. What you saw a brutal, ruthless tactics and worse. The air strikes into the gaza strip are constant and seemed to pick up last night. The targets are tunnels, operational headquarters, compounds and observation posts and prepping for the next stage. Widely interpreted as a ground offensive. Something we havent seen happen today uaf. Drone came out of the gaza strip and israel intercepted it. Bill what is the status of the boys you mentioned at the moment, do we know . Israel said their status is sensitive. Interpreted as good news because if they had passed away in this attack its an easy thing to release. Their status is sensitive and they cant talk about it at this stage. Bill mike tobin, back with you with Morehead Lines throughout the morning. Dana the u. S. Is bolstering its Military Assets in the middle east after last weeks attacks on american bases by iranian proxy forces. Rich edson is live at the pentagon with the latest. Good morning, dana. The pentagon is sending more hardware to the region to help intercept these attacks. Increased drone attacks. Also the u. S. Is sending the Eisenhower Strike Group to the persian gulf. Initially headed to join the ford strike group. Thats now been redirected after iranbacked forces starting attacking american positions in the middle east. It can carry more than 60 aircrafts and fighter jets. Lloyd austin announced the pentagon is sending more Missile Defense systems to the region and putting more troops on prepare to deploy orders. We will do whats necessary to make sure that our troops are in a good position, they are protected, and that we have the ability to respond. Iranbacked militia as have stepped up attacks. They intercepted drones on wednesday. Pentagon said the carney shot down four Cruise Missiles and 15 drones thursday that iran houthi launched from yemen. No direct casualties from the launchs. More patriot Missile Defense systems in the middle east along with batteries, a hitech Missile Defense system. Secretary austin has 100 troops on ready to deploy orders in addition to the 2,000 troops already on 24 hours notice to deploy to the middle east. The 2000 marines and sailors traveling to the region. After hamas attacked israel the u. S. Announced it would send fighter jets to the region. They have now arrived. Back to you, dana. Dana what do you have there . Bill some geography right now. General jack keane will address this after we give the show in play here. This is the u. S. S. Ford strike group in the Eastern Mediterranean for sometime now since the outbreak began. This is the u. S. S. Eisenhower strike group. We thought they would go to the Eastern Mediterranean as well but they were directed to come to the persian gulf and why its significant. 26 Marine Expeditionary unit had been off the coast of kuwait and now moving toward the red sea. It could park off the Southern Coast of israel and well see how far that gets. Why is this important in the persian gulf . Go one step further you see the significance of iran. Iran is in orange. They support hezbollah in lebanon, supports groups in the west bank and supports groups in the gaza strip and thats why you get such a major focus on behalf of the u. S. Military today. Specifically when you talk about gaza, you have hamas and islamic jihad. Hezbollah and lebanon here in the southern end here. Syria as well. Iranianbacked groups active in iraq and down here in yemen as well. So that brings us to the general. Want to bring in general jack keane to talk about maybe your top concern, general, as of now. What would that be . Well, certainly the measures that Secretary Austin is taking at the direction of the president of the United States indicates they have some intelligence. They already have ongoing activity and the concern is that this war could expand. Obviously the Terror Groups that you just mentioned, we have been involved in iraq and syria and al qaeda and eventually isis. Theyve attacked our bases there since the hamas invasion of israel. And now they attacked one of our ships and launched drones and missiles towards israel. Were defending against those. I think we could take more aggressive action against the iranian proxies who are attacking our bases. Bill, in the last three years theyve come close to attacking our bases 90 times and we responded a handful of times against them. Im not convinced that we responded strongly enough to deter them. They continue to do it. Now its in irans interest to stir up as much as they possibly can here. What is really going on . Remember, irans goal is to dominate and control the middle east and take control of the flow of oil out of the persian gulf. 40 years this has been their objective. The means, destroy the state of israel and get the u. S. Out of the region. They are about this business as we speak. The precautionary pressures of moving the forces in there absolutely the right move. Telling iran im assuming privately if you continue to escalate this, were going to respond in kind and you wont like the answer. I hope thats the message were delivering. I also think right now we should have a stronger response against these proxies who are shooting already at us. Dana there is a prominentlyplaced New York Times article today which doesnt get there by itself with background from people in the administration explaining that they want the u. S. Government wants israel to delay. U. S. Advises israel to delay gaza invasion. They suggested more time is needed for hostage negotiations. The delivery of aid to palestinians and mapping out ways to avoid more Civilian Casualties. I have a couple of questions. One, when they say when the administration says, they are concerned about the war widening. But do they think it is widening because of israel or because of iran . No, iran called the shots here to start this invasion. They certainly gave approval to it. Hamas developed the detailed plans. I think likely the irgc, the force that supervises them, provided them some assistance in terms of the imagination and scale of the operation. And certainly right here i think whats happening is the gaza people themselves are moving south and trying to get them out of the beating zone and they need assistance in doing that. The reason for the delay is the nature of the operation itself, dana. This is not in and out is what they have done in the past. Go in hard and fast and get out, kill as many as can. Destroy military rockets and missiles and get out of there and minimize Civilian Casualties as much as possible. If we dismantle hamas, this will take some time that weve been talking about now for 17 days. I think our audience has a real appreciation for the complexity of that task. A huge increase in Civilian Casualties. Getting the people out of there is an important thing that has to take place. Also certainly will make the Military Operation that much more easy to execute if a lot of those civilians are gone. I do think thats a prudent measure but listen. We arent telling the israelis when to start or not start this operation. We may be giving them some advice about Civilian Casualties but they are in control and making the decisions. You can feel the emotion and determination in the leaders of the israeli their political officials and military officials. Theyre in charge here. Their people have been slaughtered and take strong action to once and for all dismantle this organization. Bill thank you, general. Speak later in the week. Well talk soon. On that last point there great piece today Wall Street Journal david cloud wrote it. Check it out. In 2014 the last time the israelis went into gaza you had a twoday battle. 13 Israeli Soldiers killed. They believe by weakening hamass defenses now from the air will greatly increase their chances of limiting casualties once they eventually go in. But theyll concede there will be casualties. The question is how many. Dana what the general is saying makes a lot of sense to me. It is true but not actually how the media is writing about it or administration is spinning it. The way it sounds is they are asking israel to delay and that they are putting a heavy thumb on the scale. At the same time President Biden says hamas is like isis. We eliminated isis and so if you are an israeli and you hear that well eliminate them. The generals point it is very complicated. Bill and the idf is in charge. More on this now. 12 minutes past. That was the morning of october 7th. We all remember that saturday. An american lucky to escape the hamas Terror Attack at the Music Festival finally back home in the u. S. Bill here at home now we have found more antiisrael protests taking hold across the country. Especially on College Campuses and students now say that they fear for their own safety. Alexis mcadams live in new york city with more on that angle today. Alexis, good morning. Good morning. From College CampusesLike Columbia University to city streets across the country the protests have continued to pop up. Many of them have turned violent including one that happened in new york city just over the weekend. 19 arrested there after nypd officers say some of the people at that antiisrael protest were throwing eggs, fireworks and bottles at them. Watch this. [shouting] in chicago 10,000 people marched down the Magnificent Mile after Michigan Avenue standing with the Palestinian People. Minneapolis a driver sped into a crowd of protestors and later arrested. Out in atlanta a similar story with massive crowds that took to the streets saying things like this. Listen. Hamas has been doing is they were just what theyre doing now is gathering all the materials what they need to do to get back our land. Therefore, i feel like whatever hamas did was for a good cause to get back our land. College campuses Like Columbia University students were handing out palestinian head wraps and planning a walkout this week. Even hanging palestinian flags on Campus Statues on friday. At harvard university, students standing in solidarity with the Palestinian People planning more protests this week and over at nyu jewish students tell fox they dont feel safe on campus. It makes us feel scared to go to class, scared to wear jewish star in public. A campus that proper most diversity and inclusion right now about 15 of their population feels alienated. Campus security at campuses like behind me at columbia remain on high alert and nypd officers across the city as more protests continue. Bill thanks, alexis mcadams. See how it goes this week now. Thanks. Dana a new yorker who survived the hamas Terror Attack at the Music Festival is back in the United States. But says she has concerns over safety here at home as antiisraeli protests are spaing across the country and no sign of slowing down. Natalie joins us now and so good to have you here. You live in long island and in israel for a wedding and stayed for the holidays and you went to the rave in the desert. What happened . How were you woken up that morning . Well, i arrived to the festival with Three Friends and arrived at 1 00 a. M. We decided to take a rest at around 3 00 and wake up for the sunrise which was the most exciting part of the festival. I was woken up by one of the girls from our campsite. She woke us at 6 30 to be alert and understand what was happening. The way she described it was surreal. Bill what did she say . She said some rockets had been intercepted overhead. Everything should be fine. Normal for the area were in. Hopefully the party will continue. Just try to imagine anywhere else in the world where kids have are at a Festival Dancing and rockets were intercepted and goes to show how much this is a reality. Bill you knew things were different when the music stopped. After a few minutes we waited to see if the rockets would stop. They kept coming. Security shut off the music and asked everyone to evacuate to cars. That was the first time i saw the israeli kids get nervous because like i said at first they thought this was just one of those other normal occurrences where its a few rockets and it stops. We were asked to evacuate. I mentioned that originally when we were evacuating to our cars i had asked my friends if i could go to the bathroom. We figured it would be stuck in traffic and everyone trying to leave and i figured i would go before we left the campgrounds. That occurrence didnt register in my head as a big occurrence throughout this whole situation until a few days ago when a video had surfaced of the Hamas Terrorists going to those exact bathrooms moments after i was there and shantey at every stall trying to kill anyone inside. It was one of the first times that it really occurred to me how close i was to death. Dana you walked from 6 30 in the morning when you were woke up. You dont know you are safe back in your family and friends home until 1 00 p. M. Many hours of terror. You find out all that happened. You are back in the United States and watching all of this unfold. Im sure you are glued to the news. There is so much of it. A lot of grief, a lot of anger, a lot of passion and there is a lot of demand for israel to do something to make sure that hamas can never do this again. Im curious about you are a young woman in america. When you see the protests, how do you feel personally about it . Its upsetting especially seeing the protests happen on College Campuses of these protestors ar
