Taipei, Jan. 1 (CNA) President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) delivered her 2021 New Year's Day address Friday, in which she thanked all citizens for uniting to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, and helping Taiwan achieve what the world has been longing for -- a normal lifestyle.
The following is the full text of her speech, delivered in the Entrance Hall of the Presidential Office Building:
Friends from the media and those watching live, fellow citizens, and our friends around the world who care about Taiwan: Good morning.
On this, the first day of 2021, I would like to begin by wishing everyone a Happy New Year. I am sure that before going to bed last night, many of us must have thought to ourselves, "It has been a long year, and it is finally over."
