Greeting its newest member on June 24, the Commission on Aging continued the process of separating the Galt Senior Resource Center (GSRC) from the city and made plans to reopen the center next week. âI want to welcome our new commissioner, Phyllis Johnson, to the commission,â Chair Bob Balliet said as the regular meeting opened. Johnson, a retired state worker, said that she had recently been elected as president of California State Retireesâ chapter for Sacramento and Yolo counties. She served as chapter vice president for nine years. Before retirement, she also held leadership positions in state worker unions. âComing from a New York background, I have a very varied background, but most of all, Iâm out for the seniors, and I will give it my best shot. Iâm very honored to serve. Thank you,â Johnson said.
