Letecia Stauch, a Colorado woman accused of the January 2020 murder of her stepson, Gannon Stauch, has been found competent to stand trial for the child’s death. Stauch, who’s behind bars at the El Paso County jail in Colorado, appeared via videolink in court Tuesday, where it was determined for a second time that she’s mentally fit to face trial. Stauch appeared before 4th Judicial District Judge Gregory Werner, who revealed the information during the hearing. The second competency evaluation was performed by Dr. Jackie Grimmett, an expert called upon by the defense. In September 2020, state psychiatrists found Stauch competent for trial, prompting the defense’s request for a second opinion.
