A-J Media The Charles and Mary Ann Goodnight Ranch State Historic Site has joined the Texas Historical Commission's roster of 31 state historic sites, making it the region's first, according to a news release from the Texas Plains Trail Region. The property includes the J. Evetts Haley Visitor and Education Center, which offers exhibits about the Armstrong County Museum, the colorful Charles Goodnight and his family, and the history of the cattle industry in the Texas Panhandle. A Quanah Parker Trail giant arrow marker commemorates the friendship between Goodnight and the legendary war leader Quanah Parker. “The state of Texas is grateful for this gift from the Armstrong County Museum” said THC Executive Director Mark Wolfe in the release. “The story of Texas is not complete without the stories of the Texas panhandle, and the economic and cultural impact the region has made on the world.”
