Photo courtesy of the Idaho Falls Auditorium District After more than 25 years since an event center was first proposed, the Idaho Falls Auditorium District (IFAD) broke ground at Snake River Landing on May 18 for its long-awaited event center. Notable figures invited to wield the ground-breaking shovels included Gov. Brad Little, Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin and Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper. The Mountain America Center will be a 48,000-square-foot sports arena and events center next to the interstate with easy access to the Ammon/US-26 interchange at exit 116. Ball Ventures donated 23 acres to IFAD, on a parcel located at Snake River Landing, its master-planned mixed-use development along the Snake River in Idaho Falls.
