No fewer than five soldiers reportedly died at Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Friday night when unknown gunmen attacked a military checkpoint. 
 
The Advocate learnt that during the attack which occurred around 8.30pm along Owerri-Onitsha road, which is also a boundary between Anambra and Imo State, some properties belonging to the soldiers were destroyed. 
 
However, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Toçhukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the attack, said investigation were on to ascertain the level of casualty recorded and those behind the attacks.
 
Meanwhile, commuters coming or going out from Anambra state through Onitsha bridge head, a border with Asaba (Delta State), and another between Amansea (Anambra) and Ugwuoba (Enugu state) were having hectic time as armed military men mount road blocks at both sides (old and expressway).
